Description

It’s my pleasure to propose you a nice half day tour, hiking around the Llao Llao peninsula. As a culmination of the day, we’ll reach the top of the Cerro Llao Llao.

This hike I am proposing today, offers a great alternative to explore the Llao Llao peninsula and access to beautiful panoramic views without too much effort. It’s a trek that can be done all year round and will take between 4 and 6 hours in total.

It is a perfect easy walk to warm your legs before a bigger mountaineering goal. Furthermore, it’s also a good option for people who enjoy long walks but without too much physical challenge.

As for the itinerary, our hiking day starts in the vicinity of the Llao Llao Hotel. It is one of the most popular sites in North Patagonia. Here we will follow a system of well marked trails through the Llao Llao Natural Reserve. It is an area whose objective is to protect and preserve an old forest of Cypresses and Coihues as well as many other perennial trees.

In addition, the aim of this hiking day is to enjoy nature by accessing different shores of the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes. Combining several trails we will arrive at Villa Tacul. Then, in a bay of crystalline waters, we will find the ideal place to taste a lunch at the lake shore.

During the afternoon, the walk ascends to the top of Cerro Llao Llao. From its summit you will see the most beautiful views as well as the flora of the place, full of orchids and native lilies.

Finally, we’ll go down through another path and again cross the peninsula to our starting point. That way we’ll form a loop of about 10 kilometers round. The altitude change will be around 200 meters.

This experience also offers you the opportunity to visit the famous Llao Llao Hotel and the San Eduardo Chapel.

So, if you find this trek interesting and want to join me, please fill out the form and contact me. I’ll answer as soon as possible so we can talk and plan your next hiking adventure in Cerro Llao Llao.

Mountain Leader

AAGM mountain guide from Argentina.

I was raised in Buenos Aires where I used to go sailing and fishing with my family during weekend and holidays. As a teenager I began traveling to Patagonia with friends to fish, hike and camp. Years later I became a rock climber and mountaineer since I wanted to asses more summits and amazing views.

At the age of 23 and after gathering a good amount of fun ascents and traverses along Patagonia, I decided to fully commit to a life in the outdoors. As a result I started my carrier at N.O.L.S. – National Outdoors Leadership School in the U.S.A. and Chile. I lead rock climbing and mountaineering trips in Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Alaska and in Aysen (Chilean Patagonia) for nine years.

In 2009 finally settled permanently in Bariloche and focused my guiding work on the Lake District Region. Here I discovered new styles of guiding and service which were good to experience and helped me grow in this profession. Now I am able to mix my background on outdoor education with the guiding world and create unique experiences for active travelers.

I take advantage of every season of the year, going mountain biking and sea-kayaking in the summer, ice-skating on alpine lakes during the Fall, back-country skiing during the Winter, rock climbing and mountaineering as soon as the Spring makes it way through the snow.

Juan was a great guide. We went in mid November and there’s no way we could have done the Frey to Jacob traverse without him. He’s very relaxed but you feel very safe and unhurried, good fun to be around. He looked after us really well and even let us take a shower at his place before we headed off to the airport.
