Description

The Val di Fassa is a huge valley within the Dolomite mountain range in Italy. The valley offers a great variety of fun and exciting activities. From ice climbing in the winter to rock climbing in the summer. However, because the valley is so big, and so beautiful, I believe exploring it is the best way to appreciate it. And on this 3 day hut to hut ski touring trip, you will have ample opportunity to explore this amazing place.

With the trip being 3 days, you will have a chance to thoroughly see the Val di Fassa. And believe me when I tell you, there is a great deal to see. The landscape is breathtaking. And whenever you decide to look up, you will be greeted by the snowy peaks of the Dolomites. We will venture deep within the valley during the day. And every night we will stay in one of the many huts located throughout the mountain range. Thus giving you the chance to admire the valley in the evening, as the glimmering light from the moon and stars reflects off the snow.

Some of the highlights will include the Passo del Mulaz, the Passo delle selle, the Picol Laste, the Cima Vallacia, the valley of Duron, and the Rifugio Antermoia, along with so much more.

There will be some difficult areas on this trip, including skiing on black slopes. As a result, participants should have previous off-piste skiing experience. They should also be in good physical shape as 3 days of ski touring in the Val di Fassa can be as tiring as it is rewarding.

The Val di Fassa is a beautiful area of the Italian Alps, and I believe spending 3 days ski touring through it will give you a great opportunity to truly appreciate it. If you want to join me, please send me a request.

And if you can only spend one day in the Val di Fassa, I can also guide you on a single day ski tour as well.

Mountain Guide

Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Bruno, Patrick, Benedetta & Walter (German speaking). If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Patrick lead our group of 4 expertly through the Sella Ronda in the Dolomites. He had a great knowledge of the lifts and terrain, and matched our abilities with the available runs. Communicated the day prior to confirm booking which gave us great comfort. Would highly recommend.

Hi - unfortunately this trip did not really work out how we had envisaged it. Partly this was unavoidable due to the weather, avalanche risk and the snow conditions off piste being very poor. But we were very disappointed that having thought we were booking hut to hut trip where we would do lots of skiing in between, in reality we were just doing a trip where we separately (as in with a car ride across the ski village in between) hiked up to 2 different huts, stayed a night and then skied back down the way we had walked up. We appreciate that the conditions made things difficult but we felt that the guide Paolo could have been much more proactive in finding some patches of good snow, thinking about what a fun trip might be given the first plan was not possible. Rather than just defaulting to asking us what we wanted to do, and, as we did on Days 2 and 3, defaulting to skiing mainly on piste. On our 4th day, without Paolo, we managed to find some decent patches of snow to ski off piste in ... so they were there if he had made the effort to seek out and find them. Paolo was a nice guy and we appreciated his company, but we were maybe hoping for someone a bit more experienced and proactive who could ride with the challenges conditions threw at him still find interesting touring and off-pisteing to do. Just going up to a hut and back down twice is not what we had wanted/ felt we paid for. The Explore-Share service of finding the guide was fine, but the outcome did not live up to what we hoped. Thanks. Gordon 07867 801245

Paolo was an incredible guide. He was patient and knowledgeable and took us on some great terrain. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in free riding in the dolomites!

On our meeting day the forecast was for a foggy day. Renato was a professional and decided not to go full on off pist, not only that he was very creative and found a way to help us practice some great techniques, while still finding some nice fresh snow and a lot of fun. Exactly what I expected when I was looking for a mountain guide, some to enjoy with, that on the same time will be responsible and reasonable. He is super experienced- instructing the local mountain guides on their training.

Our Guide was cold and distant and not sensitive to our needs. We are older women who wanted to go slow. She tried to convince us not to do the Via Ferrata because she thought we couldn’t handle it. Not true. I went through it and absolutely loved it. I took my time, and she seemed very rushed. The trip I had scheduled was canceled because of a problem with the route being closed. We had to do a different via Ferrara. That was OK. I wanted to take my time. Enjoy the scenery and she was hurry. Hurry hurry us. When we got to The Via Ferrata, she said there was no way we could handle it and that we shouldn’t go. I thoroughly enjoyed my climb, but my friend felt so pressured and uncomfortable by our guide not to go that she turned back. Unfortunate but I had a fabulous climb.
