Description

The Vallée Blanche in France is a gorgeous area for skiing of all kinds. However, on this trip I will guide you for a thrilling day of off-piste skiing.

Beginning in the beautiful town of Chamonix, we will make our way up the Aiguille du Midi ski lift. After that, we will have a variety of choices as to which off-piste route we can enjoy. Depending on your skiing ability, glacier and weather conditions, we will choose the best route for you. Some of the routes include the Classic route, the Petit route, the Moyen route, and the Grand Envers route.

After you enjoy your run at the end of the Mer de Glace, which rests at the bottom of the Vallée Blanche, we will take a short, 20 minute hike to the Montenvers cog train or to Les Mottets hut. From there we will ski back down to Chamonix.

The total time for this trip can be from 4 to 8 hours, depending on which route you choose. Midway through the day, we will stop for lunch at the Requin hut, or at the Montenvers hotel. Once there you will get to enjoy wonderful views of the Vallée Blanche.

In order to participate in this trip, you must be able to control your speed, side-slip, ski at a safe speed, and follow existing tracks. You must also have some prior off-piste skiing experience.

Vallée Blanche is a beautiful place filled with amazing glaciers, peaks and slopes, and on this trip you will get to ski off-piste on ungroomed terrain in the crisp, high altitude air of the French Alps.

Send me a message if that sounds like something you want to be a part of. I will be more than happy to guide you.

FAQs

What is the maximum number of skiers allowed to accompany you on the descent of La Vallée Blanche?

I can accommodate a maximum of four people, and occasionally fewer if conditions are deemed too hazardous. In the event of exceeding the maximum limit, I will enlist the assistance of another mountain guide, a friend of mine, to join our group.

What type of skis should we bring for the downhill off-piste skiing from Aiguille du Midi?

You don't necessarily need a ski touring setup for this descent. The choice of skis depends on the conditions; wider skis are preferable for powder conditions. In case you don't have the appropriate equipment, you can rent it in Chamonix. I suggest visiting Concept Pro Shop, situated at the base of the Aiguille du Midi lift, for rental options.

What happens if the conditions are unsuitable for skiing down La Vallée Blanche?

If the conditions pose safety concerns (a decision I will make), we will instead engage in off-piste skiing and/or ski touring within one of the resorts in Chamonix. Despite the change in activity, the pricing will remain unchanged.

What gear is needed for this tour?

For the outing, you'll need standard ski equipment, preferably with fat skis. Ensure you have typical ski attire, a backpack capable of carrying skis, and essential safety gear including a transceiver, shovel, and probe. Depending on La Vallée Blanche's conditions, additional items such as a harness, crampons, and an ice axe may be necessary. We'll discuss the specific equipment requirements a few days prior to the trip. If equipment rental is needed, Concept Pro Shop, located at the Aiguille du Midi starting station in Chamonix, is recommended.

Which ski pass is required for skiing down la Vallée Blanche?

You must possess a 'Mont Blanc Unlimited' lift pass.

Is it possible for me/us to join a group?

I'm sorry, but for safety reasons, I only guide private groups.

What is included in the price I'm paying?

The price you are paying covers my guiding fee.

However, it does not include:

  • Your 'Mont Blanc Unlimited' lift pass
  • Your ski and safety equipment (You can rent the necessary gear at Concept Pro Shop in Chamonix)

Based in Chamonix, I am in love with the Alps because of everything they offer me: great off-piste skiing, perfect granite climbing, superb peaks and ridges in high altitude.

I love to work with people, share my experience with them and guide them with passion.

Daniel was awesome guide: he brought most of the gear by himself, clear communicated about our steps, supported us along the way. I and my friend really enjoyed the trip!
