There are a number of different areas throughout the Julian Alps that are worth admiring from a via ferrata. However, on this trip, you will have the chance to do it at Vevnica (2,340m).

Located on the border between Slovenia and Italy, Vevnica is one of the most challenging peaks in the Julian Alps range. When looking at this mountain, regardless of which side, the difficulty is obvious. However, despite the difficulty, the beauty is too tempting to resist. And when you reach the via ferrata, you will be in awe of what you will see.

Some of the highlights you will get to witness include the Belopeska Jezera and the Laghi di Fusine lakes. Their stunning, crystal blue water will glisten from the sun’s rays, and you will get to see the shine from far above. Also, from the via ferrata, you will get to see the stone faces of several other peaks. Those peaks include Mali Koritniski Mangart (2,370m), Mangart (2,678m), Strmi Strug 2,265m), and many more.

When a mountain is known as one of the steepest and most difficult to climb in a range, it is important to make clear that previous mountaineering experience is required. There are other, much easier via ferrata areas in the Julian Alps you can enjoy. However, Vevnica is not one of those. This trip is for extremely fit, technically proficient climbers.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
