There are three types of climate in Austria: the continental of the plain region of Vienna, with cold winters and warm summers; the Alpine climate of the mountains, snowy and freezing in winter, and cool in summer with some thunderstorms in the afternoon; and the climate of cities at higher altitude, like Salzburg or Innsbruck, with cold winters and quite warm summers with a good amount of thunderstorms.
Located at the heart of Europe and bordered by seven countries, Austria is an easy stop-off on a trip through Europe, thanks to its excellent transport connections. Vienna boasts one of central Europe’s best train connections. If you are flying, you can arrive in Vienna major international airport, or you could also fly to Salzburg or Innsbruck.
If you are after skiing, snow is pretty much guaranteed from November onwards to April, although the best time will be January and February. Hikers and outdoor lovers will get the best of warm weather between April and October. Most cities are year-round destinations.
Austria is a beautiful small country in the heart of Europe, with a long and interesting imperial past, still visible in spectacular palaces and architecture. Famous worldwide for its stunning alpine scenery, winter sports and charming villages, Austria boasts a wonderful cultural legacy: Klimt, Mozart, Schubert, Wagner and Strauss were born here. If you enjoy classical music, you shouldn’t miss the Salzburg Festival in summer, in Mozart’s beautiful birthplace city.
Andreas is a very nice and friendly person. He is a very professional guide. My husband and I are very satisfied with this trip! The most exciting is we meet a snowstorm, what a rare beauty it is！
In sum, the guide Andreas was just excellent and we loved the trip!
Thanks and best regards,
We booked Bernd to organise a day of top rope and lead climbing for our family who climb regularly indoors but are novices outdoors. Bernd asked the right questions and selected a perfect area for us to climb with a large number of routes of differing grades. Bernd gave us the right amount of instruction and guidance – we are already planning our next trip to Austria and will be repeat customers.
The guide was nice. We went upto Studel hut. Next day the weather was very bad and hence we could not proceed further. We had no time to extend our day further. Never mind. We shall think of it again later.
Tanks and regards.
It was a great human and sport experience. This region is so beautiful.
Andreas is a kind, honest person and a great guide. It was a pleasure to share this climb with him. He was permanently avalaible before and during the ascent and gave me some good advice.
The ascent (we climbed by the studlgrat) was challenging and nice. That one requires a good physical fitness and some rock-climbing skills.
I was pleased and proud when we reached the top.
I found Explore Share an excellent service in locating me a local alpine guide, who in turn tailored for me a brilliant 4 days mountaineering in Austria. Many thanks to Lupe for all her assistance in organising my guide and Mathias for his expert & personable guidance in the Austrian Alps.
The trip was greate and Andi is perfect guide.
He is focused 100% on clients safety and he is very organised. Also, we are suprised in positive way with your way of working. Regards, Arianit
Mathias took us on a slightly different trip more catered to rock climbing. It was exactly what we were looking for! We did a one day multi pitch climbing course and then a one day mountain ascent. I’d highly recommend Mathias if you’re looking for an adventure in Austria.
Great guide, felt very safe with Andy. Good fun to
Andreas is a very friendly and competent guide. It was reassuring to be climbing with a meteorologist during unstable weather. All three of us climbing felt very safe to have Andreas leading us up and down. I highly recommend this trip and hope to see Andi again soon!
It was such a perfect trip! Everything went very well and I’m gratified. Thanks to Andi 🙂
Great experience! My only suggestion would be to specify better the equipment needed (e.g. when booking on the website it was mentioned “the guide has all needed safety equipment”, but after booking the guide then specified you needed to provide your own skins for the crosscountry walking etc., which was news to us). The rest was perfect!
Our guide was Andreas Mitterer from Saalbach
Super day! we skied untracked snow all day. Mathias managed to plan the trip just up to our skill level. And that’s is what you get from a good guide, he have to quickly find the right level for the group. Made the day wery exiting but safe. We did a lot of steep skiing and some steep booting but felt safe all day. We used skins to get the best areas, and some booting with ski on backpack. Recommended to get to the best areas!
Our best reviews for Mathias!
We had a great day skiing with Mathias Leo and his collegue in Fieberbrunn. I can strongly recommend them!
