What’s the weather like?
The climate of Finland has long and very cold winters, while summers are mild, short and quite rainy. Finland is the coldest of the Scandinavian countries, due to its proximity to Russia. In Lapland, the northernmost part of the country, the climate is cold most of the year, with a very short summer. Here days are very short from November to January, and you almost never see the sun in December.

How to get there?
Helskini-Vantaa airport is the country’s main international airport, located 19km north of the capital. The country is easily reached by air and there are direct flights to Helsinki from many European, Asian and North American destinations. It can also be reached by land directly from Russia, Sweden and Norway.
Best time to visit
Summer is the best time to visit Finland, from June to August, with the ideal weather to enjoy hiking tours. These are the only months with a mild climate, when temperatures are usually good for outdoor activities. You can expect around 18-22ºC, and although it rarely gets hot, sometimes it can reach 28-30ºC. Specially in June days are long and you can enjoy the “white nights” in the south and the midnight sun in the north. Be aware that in Finland the sun does not shine very often, even in summer, when you can expect several rainy or cloudy days. If you want to visit Finland in winter, for skiing or snowshoeing, the best month will be March, when although the country is still covered with snow, temperatures are milder.
More Info on Finland
Finland is a Nordic country, member of the European Union, located in Northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea. It is located between Norway to the north, Russia to the east and Sweden to the northwest. Helsinki is the capital and largest city in the country. Finland is definitely a winter wonderland, but with so many magnificent forests and lakes it is also home of some of Europe’s best hiking, kayaking and canoeing options. Summer and the midnight sun are the time for music festivals, art exhibitions, waterside cottages and beer terraces. Winter is a magical time to charter a team of husky dogs or a snowmobile to explore a quiet and snowy territory, enjoying a night in a glittering ice hotel.
