Most of the country has long and harsh winters, with very low temperatures. Siberia has registered the coldest temperatures in the world. Summers are short, as well as spring and fall. From May to July, St Petersburg experiences a unique phenomenon known as ‘white nights’: daylight extends for almost 24hs.
Most international airlines fly to Moscow and St. Petersburg. By train, you can reach Russia from many European cities like Berlin, Paris, Helsinki, Prague, Budapest and Warsaw, among others. Bus is a cheaper option, but it takes longer than the train. Keep in mind that (except for some countries) you may need to apply to a Russian Visa before your trip.

Summer (from June to August) is the best time to travel, since days are longer and temperatures pleasant. May and September are also good times for sightseeing or hiking in Russia. The ski season runs from November to March.
Russia (officially called Russian Federation) is the largest country in the world, stretching over Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. St Petersburg and Moscow are the most visited cities of a country famous for so many things, from Orthodox churches to literature, vodka and ballet. Once the epicenter of the Russian Revolution and part of the Soviet Union, Russia has a strong revolutionary history, which can be traced on the country’s imposing modernist buildings, historical museums and iconic landmarks like the Moscow Red Square. The extensive Russian territory ranges from the mountainous and culturally-rich Caucasus region, to the remote and extremely cold Siberia. Looking for off-the-beaten-track adventures? Russia is the place to visit!
Everything was just perfect. Our local Guide Sergey showed us the best spots with really nice descends in amazing powder. His hut was very cute and our cook Tonja did a great job. Everything was just perfect. A dream came true. Thanks Sergey for the perfect guiding.
Last week I came back from a great week skiing in Siberia! The surroundings and the facilities were amazing! The snow quality was good, although due to the cold (between -30 and -40) the powder snow of 1 meter was pretty slow and quite tough to ski through. As well the tour guide Dimitri did an amazing job and I learned a lot from him.
Thanks for organising this wonderful week and the service is great I have to say!
I had a great time with Ivan at Dychtau! I can definitely recommend this to every climber who wants to experience something different to the alps. You can find yourself in a wonderful place with barely any western tourist and enjoy the astonishing nature and the welcoming local culture. It somehow felt like I was climbing my first REAL mountain… and I loved it!
10/10 would carry 20kg backpacks, play cards with Russian soldiers and go to sauna again 🙂 thanks,
We loved our experience at Mt Elbrus with our Guide Denis. He was an awesome Guide very knowledgable and skilled. We would use him again. We were greatful for his translation as English was not spoken by many! Mt Elbrus was an amazing place. All lift passes and accommodation excellent. Food was really good. Training days on the mountain was a wonderful experience and my partner made it to the summit with Denis. Sadly I did not but will plan another trip to attempt it myself. I would recommend Denis to anyone wanting to climb Mt Elbrus. Great guy and Guide!
Thank you for putting us in touch with him and helping arrange a well organised trip. Very happy customer experience all round!
It was a once in a lifetime experience! The organisation of the trip was very good and the team excellent – funny, smiling, very welcoming and as well we enjoyed good Russian traditional food.
The snow was outstanding – every line, every day – crazy powder snow! The guiding was totally competent, experienced – knowing the area like their own pocket, we felt their passion.
I hope the lonely lovely Mamay valley, where you can admire thousands of stars at night (while going to the toilet or cooling off from the sauna :-), will keep its charm and gentle tourism for a long time. The trip was an amazing unforgettable experience.
The dream of all freeskiers !!!
See you in May!
Went on their summer skiing expedition to Viluchinsky Volcano in Kamchatka. Was one of my favorite trips I’ve been on. Totally professional and excellent logistics. Guiding was top notch. Great communication leading up to the trip. Extremely good value. Thanks to Grigory and Roman for an amazing week!
You guys are great. Thank you for incredible moments. I will be back!
Amazing skiing in Siberia with guys from “Skiing in Russia”. Luzhba is very cosy and quiet place somewhere in Siberia. If you look for some new experience in skiing or snowboarding far from civilization – this place is the best choice. Beautiful forest powder runs without any competition with other powder-hunters We have a week in November! and already Luzhba delivered lots of fresh and wonderful snow. “Skiing in Russia” guides organized everything: all transfers, comfortable lodge, amazing meal and main point – interesting and safe skiing. Trip to Siberia is one of you never forget. Sure!
Had another great trip to Luzbha, Siberia with Grigory and Dmitry! This time we stayed in the new upgraded accommodation with the lovely Dasha cooking us great local meals, made for a very comfortable trip. Had two good storms come through while I was there dropping over a meter of fresh pow so the skiing/riding was on point as well!
Marco is a pro. Seriously amazing experience in Kamchatka.
Leave your tasks at home and go to mounts with Heliski Russia. This guys know how to prepare and cook your gourmet vacation!
