During the summer, expect dry and sunny but generally very hot days. The weather is milder during Autumn and Spring, with clear skies and less crowds. During the winter, it snows in mountain areas and r
Depending on your destination, you can either fly into Madrid or Barcelona or get there by train, if you are coming from another European country.
If you are planning on skiing, visit from December to March. For rock climbing, autumn and spring are probably best. Depending on the spot, you may want to avoid the summer months as it can get too hot. Check with your guide.
Spain is flamenco, massive cathedrals and Gaudí architecture. It is bullfights, sunny days and Muslim palaces. It is great mountain ranges, affordable prices and beer and tapas at the end of the day. But more than anything, Spain is the Spanish people and their unique and enchanting way of living life. Come for a few days or even a couple of weeks. One thing is certain: you won’t want to leave!
It was great, would recommend, 5/5 🙂

A great morning out with Carlos at Cala Moli! Beautiful setting. Carlos was very patient and conscious of everyone’s safety. He was clear on his instructions and made it a great experience for us!
At our designated departure time it was raining and looking very unlikely that we would even get out of town, let alone get to climb. Jon took us through the weather for the area and said there as a good chance we’d summit the next day if we were willing to take the chance. We did and so got the chance to summit the next day. Jon took me up off the usual routes and showed me some lovely parts of the mountain. As we climbed many others were turning back but Jon found a safe path mostly out of the weather and we managed to summit a few hours later.
Jon’s knowledge of the weather, Mt Mulhacen, the surrounding area and Spanish history added another level to the experience. He is a very capable mountaineer and a guide who knows his clients early and knows how to get the best out of them.
I highly recommend Jon if you are looking for a guide to help you achieve your goals.
Absolutely fantastic day out in Montserrat mountains. Marc is super friendly and easy going and helped me to achieve my goals while lead climbing. The area is also gorgeous with over 4000 routes to suit any skill level. Can not recommend enough!!
Beautiful climb on spectacular conglomerate rock. To top it off, Marc is very knowledgeable and friendly!
Trip was awesome. Met up on time, did lots of pitches, Carlos was very knowledgeable, safe, and we had a lot of fun. I would highly recommend him. -Rob A.
Xavi was wonderful. My daughter and I had a great climb. Early in our hike, while I was enjoying Xavi, I wondered if we really needed him. Then it became clear that it is easy to lose your way on Pedraforca and many do. It was much more enjoyable to have him with us and not have to worry about directions! We had some great conversations and learned a lot about Catalonia as well. Pedraforca itself is legendary, not because it is difficult but because it is so beautiful and unique.
Thank you for an awesome trip!
Carlos was an excellent guide. He communicated well and we learned a lot about Spanish history and culture from him. He took us to an awesome location so that I could propose to my partner!
We had a guide named David he was very very good and everything worked perfect. Can only recommend climbing Aneto 🙂
We booked five tours with Julen, and we enjoyed every one of them greatly. Julen is an Excellent guide, who goes the extra mile to ensure that his clients enjoy the tours. 6 out of 5 stars!
Both Marissa and I had a great time climbing with Francesc. He was knowledgeable, charming and fun to climb with! Plus he taught us how to make pan con tomate :).
One thing however, Cesc took some images with his camera (I cannot remember what he called it but it’s similar to a GoPro) and we were curious if we could get digital copies.
Can you ask him about that?
I would recommend this trip to anyone and everyone who is interested in climbing in Spain or anywhere in the world.
My husband and I visited Spain in August and made sure to add a via ferratta to our ‘to do’ list. Franscec was a wonderful guide. We loved his geology knowledge (we’re both geoloigsts), as well as his knowledge about the flora and fauna. The trip was fun, but we would have loved to have gone on a longer trip. Next time! We highly recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for a fun outside adventure.
I have to admit, before getting a guide I was very weary. I had never used a guide for climbing but decided to go with Cesc. It was the best decision I made. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. He knew exactly where to take us for learning sport outside and continued to push us throughout the day with climbs that were at our level. Will definitely use him again when we come back to BCN for some multi-pitch!
