This 3-day program will take you across the Ushiro Tateyama mountain range, **in the north of the Japan Alps, from Mt Karamatsu to Mt Goryu**. It is a particularly great way to discover these beautiful mountains in the Nagano Prefecture.

On the first day of the program, I'll pick you up at your accommodation in **Hakuba Village**. This area is very popular both among hikers during the summer and among skiers during the winter.

From the village, we'll hike up to Shappoike Hut (1850m), where our traverse begins. During the hike, **we'll traverse two long ridges: Happoo ridge and Toomi ridge**. From up here, you'll enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountains!

We'll spend the **nights at two different mountains huts**: Mt. Karamutsu hut on the first night and Mt Goryu hut on the second one. I'm sure you'll enjoy the friendly atmosphere up here!

I'll take a maximum of 4 people on this hike. Please be aware that you need a good fitness level to be able to enjoy the walk, as we'll be trekking for around **5 hours a day.**

Mt Karamatsu to Mt Goryu traverse

During this 4-mountain traverse in the Hakuba area, we'll cross the stunning Ushiro Tateyama mountain range. We'll go from **Mt Karamatsu (2696m)** to **Mt Goryu (2814m)** to **Mt Kashimayari (2889m),** and the more advanced can also reach the **Mt Jigatake summit (2670m)**.

This 3-day hike is a great way to get to know the Hakuba area, straddled between the Nagano and the Toyama Prefectures in Japan. This area is very popular among hikers in the summer and skiers in the winter.

Two long ridges — the Happoo ridge and the Toomi ridge — connect these mountains. During our traverse, we'll enjoy **incredible views of the mountains** in this beautiful area of the Japan Alps.

You need a **good fitness level** to be able to enjoy these 3 days of hiking. Although the route doesn't present any technical difficulties, it can be quite challenging, especially if you wish to climb to the Mt Jigatake summit.
