From the imposing Alps to the French Riviera, there are lot of natural wonders to explore in France. Outdoor lovers can enjoy a myriad of summer and winter adventures, either in the mountains or by the sea. Canyoning is a relatively new and fast-growing sport in the country, which combines swimming in natural pools, thrilling jumps, slides and waterfall rappelling. With the company of a mountain guide, you can find the perfect canyon for you and your group. There are plenty of options, from those suitable for beginners and families with (not so small) children, to those aimed for the most extreme adventurers.
It depends on the region: the alpine regions have very cold temperatures during the winter and warm summers; while the Mediterranean coasts enjoys mild temperatures almost all year round and can get really hot during the summer month. For a canyoning trip, you’d better travel between late spring and summer.
There are endless things to do in France, so you should stay as long as you can! Most canyoning trips take from a few hours to a whole day. If you are a canyoning addict, you can set out on a week-long full of aquatic adventures in Corsica or the Alpes-Maritimes.
From June to October you’ll find the best combination of nice warm weather and canyons with sufficient water.
We did the Richiusa canyon in July 2018 with Canyoning Corse. Super service from the very beginning. We emailed them our enquiry to go canyoning and they replied within 30 mins and in English too ( a bonus in the mainly French speaking Corsica)! Their emails were polite, welcoming and informative. They fitted us in on the day we wanted and provided all necessary details. On canyoning day we were met by our instructor on time in the easy to find meeting spot. Our instructor was friendly, competent and a great leader. The canyoning experience itself was excellent. The nature was brilliant and after our long walk to the top of the canyon, the descent was fun and full of action the whole time. The Richiusa Canyon provided a good challenge without being scary, with the most beautiful rock pools and water ever!
Excellent. Olivier made us feel safe through out our trip and it was a lot of fun. Great experience.
