More Info

Any trip to Macedonia begins with a flight into the capital, Skopje. Be sure to spend some time here, either before or after your ski holiday to take in some history and culture.

From here, there is plenty of great freeride skiing around the capital as well as farther afield. Mavrovo National Park, just an hour and a half southwest of the capital, offers some high quality slopes and snow.

Farther south, Pelister National Park is probably the most popular freeride destination in the country. Heading here for hut-to-hut expeditions as well as lift-assisted freeriding are both immensely popular option.

In the east, the Osogovo-Besalica mountain range offer even more freeride options, with rolling hills and slightly higher peaks too. There is no shortage of skiing here, or really anywhere in this little country.

Good to Know

What’s the weather like?

During the winter, temperatures drop to right around freezing and sometimes dip lower, especially in January. The country gets most of its snow in January and it generally sticks until March or April in the mountains.

How do I get there:

Any trip to Macedonia generally begins with a flight into the Skopje International Airport (SKP), which offers direct flights from most major European airports. From here, buses are available to most freeride skiing destinations in the rest of the country.
