High mountain ascents involve mountaineering on the significantly tall objectives, like the Himalayas and the Andes. It necessitates substantial preparation and equipment, including belay systems and ropes, helmets and harnesses, ice climbing tools, and specific safety gear. High mountain excursions can last upwards of two months, requiring the highest levels of strength, perseverance, and fitness. Expert climbers often face insurmountable challenges, so a wealth of experience is needed to safely and successfully complete an expedition.

While reaching a summit is a primary goal, high mountain ascents also focus on safely accomplishing technical climbing obstacles and traverses. Certified mountain guides are a vital part of a program and its success. Ascents are best attempted in the summer months with respect to the hemispheres, when the weather is less volatile and more accommodating.

Great experience ….. thank you for the great trip. I’m coming back to Chile.
The trip was great.  Christian was an excellent guide.
The trip was a great experience with a wonderful view! However, unfortunately the tour description does not fit with the actual
tour. There was no breakfast with acclimatisation and the duration was shorter. Most important the tour was not guided by Christian, but by some of his employes which did not speak English so we didn’t get much explanations except some fragments that we understood in Spanish. Therefore we were a litlle disappointed concerning the guide of this tour.
Fernando is an excellent and knowledgeable guide, and the itinerary is a nice balance of climbs and recovery time, including
time to explore a couple of cities. He also made sure we were well-equipped for the climbs. The guides are geared more toward getting you up and down than toward building any technique. It’s not billed as an instructional course, so that’s not a complaint — just pointing it out for those who like to use one experience to build to another rather than just reach the summit.
It was a true life experience. I enjoy every moment of it. Our guides were excellent and inka
facilities for this journey were up to par with what I expected.
The trip to the summit will challenge you even if you consider yourself fit and healthy. The feeling at the
summit is insane – like winning a sports championship. You really have to push through mentally and physically to make it
John Ballesteros for Ascent to Nevado del Tolima
Jaime was absolutely amazing. He always made sure that safety is the priority, even when I was tired and had
problems with altitude. I’d climb any mountain with him!
Even though we turned around at 5900m due to avalanche danger I really enjoyed the climb and Segundo was a
great guide – professional and friendly.
I am writing in regards to the tour my husband and I took to Chimborazo November 3-4,2018. We had a very
great time and were lucky enough to make the hike to the summit. The guide who picked us up from Hotel San Francisco was very nice and on time as expected, his name was Jaun Carlos. Once we arrived for dinner Jaun Carlos introduced us to our guide who we’d be hiking with the next day, his name is Fausto. Both guides were professional and very helpful. Once we all made it to the summit our camera died and we were unable to take any photos. Thankfully Fausto had his phone available and was able to capture several pictures and a couple videos.
Awesome climb!!
Everything was perfect. We had to bring forward the trip due to weather conditions and Remy was very flexible. He
made us feel comfortable along the climb and everything went very easily although it was only our second 4000 ascension. He’s a very nice and pleasant person. I highly recommend him!
(1) We are all very happy with the experience. Everyone got a real feeling to at least some of the
mountaineering life aspect. (2) Guides were all great and we had a great time + learned quite a bit in a very short time. (3) We got as far as each of us could this time. One of us reached the summit – others had to stop at different stages – but that is all part of the adventure. Overall very happy and definitely see a value in a service like Explore-Share.

A fantastic trip! Segundo was a wonderful guide and made the trip a lot of fun. Even during difficult weather
and when things didn’t go as expected, he kept a positive attitude and continued to motivate me when I was beginning to lose momentum. I would absolutely recommend this trip and Lonely Summits to anyone looking to visit the beautiful country of Ecuador – whether you’re an experienced climber or not, the services provided by Lonely Summits are fantastic for any skill level or price point.
