A splitboard is basically a snowboard that can be disconnected in order to form two skis. Splitboarding became popular in the mid-1990s as a way for snowboarders to more easily reach backcountry destinations. Just like ski touring, splitboarding is hard work and involves climbing up hill in skins or crampons as well as going down. Splitboarding takes you away from crowded ski resorts and allows you to explore remote winter landscapes in a way that would not be possible with a traditional snowboard.

Nikolay is an awesome guide who is clearly very experienced. We planned to climb+ride Todorka in late January but due
to snow storms and high winds we had to postpone the trip. However as soon as the conditions had improved and the avalanche risk was manageable Nikolay called me to say its game on for tomorrow if that works for me. We had an awesome day riding and I learnt so much from Nikolay about Avalanches, exposure and climbing. Would definitely recommend! Cheers!
I would like to give Naoki five stars out of five. He was just great: professional, safety first approach, helped
us with our splitboards, found great terrain and was very friendly and kind during the hole day!
I can not rate Toshiya because he was not our guide. Our experience was marred by a void of
communication prior to the trip. We never recieved email or other communication prior to our trip, despite frequent requests. Simple questions like, “Do we need crampons?” were unanswered. The day before our arrival, we called Toshiya (whos phone number was being withheld). He was unaware of what day we were visiting, he did not know how many days or how many people in our group.
Truly excellent guide, with unique knowledge of backcountry spots for freeride and touring. Extremely nice guy too.
My wife and myself had the wonderful opportunity to spend three days with Naomi Kawata as our backcountry country
guide. First off Naoki is a very easy going person. wen felt at ease with him right away. also he has the right guide qualifications.Safety in the mountains was the number one priority. he is very knowledgeable about anything backcountry (example how to apply your skins when your knee deep in snow} Naoki was able to take us to a mountain where we three were the only people there it was an absolute blast! Naoki took us to a few local restaurants that were amazing. you had better know japanese in these places or have Naoki with you, that’s how local they were. Well to sum it up three great days skiing with an excellent ,extremely versed guide. we will definitely get with Naoki next year. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good safe time. ed zinnanti and iris zinnanti for Niseko, Rusutsu and Sapporo backcountry ski tours
Great for experienced backcountry ski/board tourers. Daisuke looked after us very well. We experienced some of the local culture
going to onsens and restaurants after a hard day on the snow. The yakitori stand at the end of the first day was a real treat.
Mathis was great. He is very knowledgeable about the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc area. Our trip down Vallee Blanche was amazing and we
felt comfortable knowing Mathis was our guide
Ben is a world class guide and my experience was so much fun. I would recommend him to any of
my family or friends and will be back in the future and will request Ben.
Really enjoyed a day of off piste with Mathias. We were lift-serviced with some short hikes and traverses and found
plenty of fresh powder! If you are honest about what you want, and your group’s abilities, then Mathias will create an experience that works!
I am really, really happy with both Explore-share.com’s service and their recommendation of guide Benjamin Souflot. Benjamin was extremely
personable, and more importantly knowledgeable. Benjamin recommended where to rent ski gear and the proper gear for the day. He had crampons for my boots, ropes and other safety gear needed. I showed up at the meeting spot early, and Benjamin was already there waiting. On the gondola ride up to Aiguille du Midi, he talked safety and what to expect. When we got up to the top, it was very windy and intimidating. As Benjamin prepared the gear for our descent, he talked safety, strategy and was reassuring that it would be a fun, safe adventure. As I look down the face of the Ridgeline, I became nervous and anxious. Benjamin was very reassuring that it was going to be OK, that I was safe with him and we would make it down. Sure enough, Benjamin literally “talked me off the ledge” and we proceeded down. Benjamin was focused & guided me the entire time. Once we started skiing, Benjamin gave great instructions as to where to ski, what to expect ahead, etc. He was very knowledgeable about the mountain. When we took breaks, Benjamin shared with me interesting facts about where we were, in the mountains France, Italy, Mount Blanc, the crevasses, various peaks, history of the glacier, etc. I had a great experience! I would definitely do this trip again with Benjamin. I would also recommend this trip to anyone else with Benjamin and your company, Explore-share.com. Thank you again! -John
Jessy took good care of us. He contacted us in good time before our actual day. Super nice and skilled.
We like to ski long days and so did Jessy. If we come back we will definetly contact Jessy again.
Skiing from Aguille du Midi down to Chamonix has been an experience of a lifetime. We enjoyed the Valle Blanche
breathtaking views all the way down and the best route and ski conditions we could ever had! Our guide provided us with the avalanche material and safety information prior to start the run and shared his knowledge and skiing advice with us during the day. We’d 100% recommend the activity and our experienced guide Mathis! Having him guiding us made it an incredible day. Thank you so much for the unforgettable adventure!!
One of the best powder days skiing of my life! An amazing combination of couloirs, tree runs and open powder
fields all accessible by lifts. Nikolay is a great guide who judged the abilities of the group and chose routes to suit everyone! Highly recommended trip, excellent value for money!
Wow what a Tour! Jun guided us perfectly, we made it to the top of yotei. An Incredible
experience!
We picked the perfect day. The off-piste was was incredible and Nikolay was informative, extremely knowledgable and professional. We felt
safe at all times as Nikolay was in constant comms with others on the mountain and the tour was managed to minimise risk of avalanches. Will happily book via Explore Share again. Thanks.
Myself and my husband and brother had a fabulous day! We got great snow! Wataru showed us some
great places to get the powder stashes! Unfortunately my skill level could not make the utmost of this awesome day but I enjoyed it so much anyway. If I can make it back to Hokkaido I will try my hardest to book with Wataru again.
Great experience! My only suggestion would be to specify better the equipment needed (e.g. when booking on the website it
was mentioned “the guide has all needed safety equipment”, but after booking the guide then specified you needed to provide your own skins for the crosscountry walking etc., which was news to us). The rest was perfect!
Our guide was Pietro and not marco like we initially thought. Pietro was awesome, it is all about his clients
and most importantly safety. We did two runs and it was an incredible experience. Guide is a must to explore the hidden spots because Monterosa ski is massive.
Arielle Falcone for Monte Rosa, guided freeride ski
Overall the experience was great – Xavier really knew the local area catered to everyones abilities in the group and
offered some great advice. I would love to book another day trip (or maybe even a multi day trip!) with Xavier so I could experience some of the peace and quiet you get away from the piestes in the remote areas of the mountains. Would recommend to anyone that wants to explore the mountains away from the crowds.
Both Nikolay and the other guide with us (apologies for forgetting his name) were highly qualified and experienced. They found
us the best conditions available and made sure we had a good time while staying safe.
