Top Trekking Trips in Corsica
From the rugged trails of the world-famous GR20 to some of the more lowkey hikes, such as the Mare e Monti, Corsica is full of natural beauty that is just waiting to be explored!
Corsica combines stunning views of mountain, sky and sea with a unique culture in the Mediterranean. Home to Napoleon Bonaparte as well as numerous remote citadels sprinkled around the countryside, Corsica is full of interesting sights. The GR20 is by far the most popular trek in the country. It takes you diagonally across the island and provides you with a great taste of everything Corsica has to offer. The Alta Roca trek takes you across the southern portion of the island and along both the Cuscionu plateau and the Aiguilles de Bavella. The Mare e Monti follows the southwestern coast along the Ajaccio Bay and the Propriano Gulf.
During the summer, the island enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate. Average temperatures at generally around 22ºC to 26ºC with some hotter days. Hikers can mostly expect sunny weather and clear skies. However, storms are not infrequent, especially at higher altitudes.
This largely depends on how much time you have and what you want to do. Guides offer shorter, 3-day trips that mainly stick to one area or longer two-week treks that cross the whole island.
