The Via Ferrata routes in Bariloche, which is located in the province of Rio Negro in central Argentina, are one of the top places to go in the country.

There are several great routes here that are easy to get to from the city center and combine great views with fresh air and some invigorating exercise.

Arroyo de la Virgen is an especially popular route. With views overlooking East Moreno Lake and the surrounding mountains. This should whet your appetite for more.

Nearby there is also an option to take Via Ferrata in another direction. Virgin’s Canyon offers the unique opportunity to Via Ferrata down before heading back up to the top. This lets you explore the scenic canyon and do something few other Via Ferratas do in the world.

What’s the weather like?

During the summer, average daily temperatures in the region range from 20ºC to 24ºC and decrease as altitude increases. There is also not much rain in the summer on the eastern flank of the Andes, but occasional thunderstorms are not uncommon.

How to get there:

Almost all Via Ferrata trips to Argentina take place in the Andes. Getting here begins with a flight into the international airport in Buenos Aires (EZE). This is followed by a connecting flight to a regional airport. Bariloche (BRC) is a particular popular Via Ferrata destination.
