The Julian Alps belong to the Southern Limestone Alps and are set partly in Italy and mostly in Slovenia. Home to Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia, which also gives name to the gorgeous Triglav National Park, this beautiful mountain range is also famous for its rivers and lakes and makes for a great mountain climbing destination with over 10 mountains with an altitude of over 2,000 m (6,561 ft.).
Long cold white winters that stretch from late November to April, late-blooming Mays, stunning dry summer June and July's and multicolored short autumns characterize the Julian Alps' weather.
