##### Within the country of Argentina, there is a wide assortment of naturally beautiful places to visit and explore. And on this 2 day  hiking adventure, I would like to show you the gorgeous Quebrada del Yatan, an amazing valley in the province of Cordoba.

The **Quebrada del Yatan** is a narrow, stunning valley. It is highlighted by the **Yatan river**, waterfalls, and several **Condor nests**, where you can probably see the enormous birds flying in the sky. A sensational, untouched area in the **Sierras of Cordoba**, it is a wonderful place to explore for people who don’t want to hear city noise, or to be constantly around crowds. It is a wild, quiet, vast, amazing place. And not only will you be spending **2 days** hiking through it, you will also get to spend a night camping in it as well, under the stars.

The trip will begin in the small town of **La Cumbrecita**, which is located near the **highest peak in Cordoba, Champaqui hill (2,884m)**. **La Cumbrecita** is also only **approximately 40 kilometers away from Villa General Belgrano** and **118 kilometers from Cordoba city**. Hence making this **2 day hike** a great addition to any vacation in the province of **Cordoba**.

### **I am happy to invite you to live a great full day snowshoeing trip in** Bariloche**!**

**Let’s snowshoe across the mountains in Bariloche** while feeling the peacefulness and majesty of the Andes!

This amazing adventure starts **at Cerro López** foothill. Here, a 4×4 Land Rovers will be waiting for us to drive towards the mountain hut “Extremo Encantado”. Once there, we will check our gear and have a briefing about some snowshoeing and risk management skills. You will carry a home-made box-lunch with sandwiches, granola bars and a chocolate brownie.

The ascent on snowshoes follows the East Ridge climbing through an **old growth “Lenga” forest**. Keep your eyes open to admire Austral Parakeets and Magellanic Woodpeckers! Quickly we will gain altitude and reach  “La Roca Podrida”, the first viewpoint. Here we’ll have a short break, enjoy the view and a hot tea.

The climb continues and the ridge gets narrower and more dramatic thought the woods. After 2:30 hiking hours we will reach “La Piedra de Asterix” a rocky prominence that rises over the trees. This point offers a 360° view where we will stop for lunch and relax.

**It is common to see Andean Condors flying over the mountain at this altitude.** We will be now at 1615 meters of height. Time to recover our energy with two delicious home-made sandwiches and brownie.

After that, if you feel good and have some extra energy, we can continue towards “El Filo de las Cabras”. It is a mountain shoulder following the ridge with incredible new views.

Finally, the descent will be by the same route we ascended. In only one hour we’ll be again at the cozy hut enjoying a beautiful view with a cup of hot-coco on your hands!

### **This great traverse to the** Frey Hut**, leaving from the Cerro Catedral, is a classic trek in Bariloche.**

The day begins in **Villa Catedral** where we will use some chair lifts to gain elevation. At almost 2000 meters above sea level, we will be already enjoying an incredible view of the **Nahuel Huapi Lake**.

So, we will start walking on a well marked trail between rocks and stones. The first hour of hiking has some difficulty due to the rocky and steep terrain. There will be some times that we need to use our hands to help us cross steps between the rocks.

After several stops to have some snacks and drink water, we will be at the **Arroyo Rucaco Valley**. We will also be able to see, in clear days, the [**Mount Tronador**](https://www.explore-share.com/trip/cerro-tronador-hike-across-pampa-linda/), the Cerro Negro and why not, the **Lanin Volcano** far in the horizon. Then, we will continue the route that becomes easier and faster.

After two hours of hiking, we will reach the **"Canchita de Futbol"** where we will change the direction. It's time to descend towards the Schmoll and Toncek lagoon. Now we will be literally inside the **Frey Valley**. The red granite needles we will see are magnificent and imposing.

We'll stop for lunch at the shore of the **Toncek Lagoon**. The homemade box lunch gives us the energy to continue for 3 more hours, descending until we are again in our starting point, Villa Catedral. Of course that before that, **we will visit the Frey Hut** to know its history and mountain atmosphere that is breathed in this classic refuge of Bariloche.

We will gradually leave this high Andean terrain behind to immerse ourselves in the **Patagonian rainforest**. Flowers and lichens will give color to the trail. The Lengas will be getting bigger as we enter the **Valley of the Van Titter**, following its crystalline waters while we lose altitude.

The last hour of the trek is a long walk alongside the Southeast of the Cathedral Mount. That trail leads us to the parking lot of the Ski Center. Finally, after a long day in the mountains we deserve **a good craft beer to celebrate!**

In addition to having **a good physical condition**, keep in mind that this program is not recommended to people who suffer from fear of heights. During spring you will find large amounts of snow at the top of the mountain. It is therefore important to have good trekking boots and gaiters.

“The huge of Patagonia” with more than 2.500 meters of slopes to ski. **Lanin Volcano** at 3.776 meters is an emblem not only of the province of Neuquén but the entire Patagonia and that’s why it is venerated as the “Gigante empachado” (The giant surfeited ) by Araucanos. **Lanin Volcano** is located in a perfect region full of Araucarias and wildlife which makes this place visible from more than 200 km far.

The trail is moderate with steeps of no more than 40° of inclination so you don’t need any special technical skill but a good physical condition. What make this place very attractive to skiers are the steep slopes from the base and its Patagonian weather with the wind as the main star.

Here you have the full program of the trip:

**DAY 1: STARTING POINT**

Transfer from Bariloche to the base camp in Tromen Pass during 4-5 hours of drive.

**DAY 2: CLIMB DAY**

We will climb up to the camp site 1 after 4 or 5 hours. Overnight in tents or in the mountain hut if places are available

**DAY 3: LANIN SUMMIT**

We will leave the camp 1 and climb to the **Lanin Volcano summit**. It will take us about 5 and 7 hours. Crampons may be needed. Another overnight in camp 1.

A 4-day trip starting in Arturo Port, at water’s edge of Lake Lolog, crossing the River of **Auquinco Valley**. We cross beautiful landscapes of native forests to end in a beauty spot next to Laguna Verde.

**Day 1: Arturo Port – Auquinco (4 – 5 hs)**

The first day of this trek consists in skirting Lolog Lake by a dense forest. After 2 hours of hike we will arrive at Playa Bonita. If weather helps we will enjoy a rest time and a swim in this lake. Then, we will continue until we get to **Aunquinco** spot where we will spend the night in our base camp. You have to know during this walk we can find vary of birds such as the Pitio, woodpeckers and the Huet.

**Day 2: Auquinco – Corner of the pines (4 – 6 hs)**

Our second day will be easier and very different from the first one, because we will hike among steppe lands characterized by its thick grass. If it’s hot we can refresh our bodies in the cold but calm waters of **Auquinco River**. In the middle of those valleys we can find traces of deers, wild boars and if we are lucky, we can see one of them around.

**Day 3: Corner of the pines– Portezuelo waterfall (5 – 6 hs)**

Some minutes after leaving the **Corner of the Pines**, we can admire the beauty of the Araucarias. They are antique and typical trees of **The Lanin National Park** and they have been used as food resources by Mapuches.  
As we walk the mixed forest, we will start finding the first signs of an ancient volcanic activity. While we are leaving the forest, we will be entering into a black sandy landscape that slowly turns into a high desert. When we go through it, we will find the **Portezuelo Waterfall** and the volcano Achen Ñiyeu on whose side arises a beautiful slag heap.  
If weather conditions and National Parks allow us, we can spend the night at the waterfall foot.

**Day 4: Portezuelo Waterfall – Green Lake (2 – 3 hs)**

The day begins walking among the slag heap which is lava transformed into rock and channeled through an ancient glacial valley, approximately 450 years ago. This last section of the trail will take us to the **Laguna Verde** (Green Lake), where we can rest while waiting for the transfer.  
In case the weather conditions are not favorable or National Parks do not permit to overnight, we will sleep in Laguna Verde directly.

**Bariloche** and its waters give us unbelievable trails and landscapes to enjoy the best mountain activities. **Laguna Azul, Creton and Ilon** are some of them.

So that I am inviting you to this **4-day trekking expedition among the perfect and most imposing lakes of Bariloche**, in the Patagonia Argentina. For more details, here you have the full itinerary:

**DAY 1: FOREST HIKE**

The hike of the first day will take us about six hours. During the trail, we visit the **Rio Manso** which we will cross by a bridge, entering to a fantastic forest. It is known as “Bosque de Ñires” and its variety of animal, vegetation and rock species will make this trekking much more interesting. Finally, we reach to the beautiful **Laguna Azul**.

**DAY 2: ASCENT DAY**

Here we start the ascent. This trekking adventure will take us about 6 hours. We will hike up the slopes of the lake and once we advance some meters we will enjoy a magnificent viewpoint. When we reach to Laguna Creton a fresh water rain will welcome us.

**DAY 3: HILLS AND MORE HILLS**

We will continue hiking until we find the Cerro Punta Negra at 2.166 meters of height. After that, without going out of our way, we will find **Cerro Tronador and Cerro Capitan**, from whose edge we will enjoy a privileged sight of the famous **Nahuel Huapi Lake**. By the end of the day and after 5 or 6 hours of trekking we get to **Laguna Ilon**, the third lake of this adventure by the crystalline waters of **Bariloche**.

**DAY 4: LAST DAY**

In our fourth and last day, if weather conditions help, we can swim in **Laguna Ilon**, the warmest waters of the three lakes. After that, we will start the return by an irregular trail that turns into a flatter one after crossing the river. They are the final moments of this amazing trip around the best **Bariloche** waters.

Con sus 3776 mts de altura, el volcán Lanín es la cumbre más alta de la región y da nombre al Parque Nacional en el que se halla enclavado.  
El ascenso comienza en la seccional Río Turbio de Guardaparques, en la base del volcán, a unos 1100 mts de altura. La ruta conocida como “normal”, es la que nos llevará por la cara norte del cerro, recorriendo parte de la “espina de pescado”, una formación rocosa de residuos glaciarios; para luego desviar por el “camino de mulas” que abandonaremos al llegar al refugio que el Guardaparque nos haya designado.  
Nos encontramos cerca de los 2500 mts de altura, dependiendo del refugio, y allí disfrutaremos de un merecido descanso luego de 5 o 6 horas (aprox) de marcha. En esta primera etapa no es raro observar la presencia de una familia de cóndores que suele sobrevolar la zona.  
Nuestra segunda jornada comienza temprano, antes de la salida del sol, de modo de aprovechar la dureza de la nieve, la menor exposición a los rayos solares y las disposiciones de Parques Nacionales. Esta etapa, que puede durar entre 5 y 8 horas (aprox) nos llevará, si se dan todas las condiciones, hasta la cumbre del volcán, a 3776 mts de altura. Desde allí podremos apreciar en toda su magnificencia la belleza de la vista de los cordones montañosos vecinos y los distintos espejos de agua.  
El descenso transcurre por la misma ruta de ascenso y, previa parada en el refugio para descansar y recuperar energías, culminará en la base del volcán luego de una jornada larga y plena de satisfacciones que siempre será recordada.

Ascent to Lanin Volcano, 3776m

The **Domuyo Volcano** is an imposing mountain from which the **Cordillera del Viento** is born. It is located in the north of the Patagonian province of Neuquén. With 4707 meters it is the highest mountain of The Patagonia and due to its geothermal activity, the name of this mountain means “it trembles and grumbles” in the Mapuche language.

**Domuyo Volcano** is also known as **“The Patagonia Roof”** and we recommend physical training and technical skills to climb it. From its summit we can admire the Southern Cordillera of Mendoza, the Northwest of Neuquen, Chile, the volcanoes Copahue, Antuco, Nevados de Chillán, Tromen and the mountains Campanario and Sierra Nevada. Its hills are full of solfataras as a result of spring waters and geiseres.

Meeting in Chos Malal, driving to Varvarco and night in a lodge (not included)

Ascent to the base camp at 3100 meters.

If we are ok and if weather conditions allow us we can try to get to the **Domuyo Volcano** summit. If not, we will spend an acclimatization and rest day.

**DAY 5**

Return to Chos Malal (final of our services)

Extra day in case of bad weather conditions.
