**Rightly considered as one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, Alpamayo is worth climbing. Join me as I take you to the snowy peak of this mountain giant on this wonderful trip.**

Located in the Cordillera de los Andes in the Cordillera Blanca, the iconic peak of Alpamayo (5,947 m) is locally known as _**Shuytu rahu**_ **which means the ‘snowy oblong’.**

We will begin the trip in Huaraz and passing through the **valley of Callejón de Huaylas we will cross Carhuaz, Yungay, and Caraz until we reach Cashapampa, the starting point of the trek.** The first camp will be set up at Llamacoral.

From Llamacoral, we will continue along the Jatuncocha Lagoon and cross Santa Cruz Valley to get to the base camp. **The pristine lagoon surrounded by sharp peaks will be sight like no other!** The trail further leads onto a glacier to reach the high camp at 5,350 m. This spot offers **stunning views of the west face.**

The final climb to the summit will **start from the high camp.** We will start early, at about 1 am and advance on the direct route or the French route, using ropes. And, once we reach the top, it will be **truly exhilarating!**

**Uncorrupted vistas of the Cordillera Blanca range will unfold in front of your eyes.** After enjoying our time, we will descend via the same route.

On our return journey, we will walk through the valley of Arhuaycocha down the Quebrada de Santa Cruz and continue until we reach Huaraz to end this remarkable trip.

Remember that you must be in excellent physical condition to go on this tour. Also, **previous mountaineering experience is definitely welcome.**

We will drive from Huaraz and go along the valley of the Callejón de Huaylas. Passing through Carhuaz, Yungay, and Caraz we will reach Cashapampa, from where we will start the trek to the first camp at Llamacoral camp (3,760).

Transportation: 3 hours.

Hours of walking: approximately 5 hours.

Huaraz (3,100 masl) - Caraz (2,200 masl) - Cashapampa (2,900 masl) - Llamacoral (3,760 masl)

After breakfast, we will by the Jatuncocha Lagoon pass through the Santa Cruz Valley. You will clearly see the peaks of Taulliraju (5,830m), Quitaraju (6,040m), Artesonraju (6,025m) and snowy Alpamayo (5,947m). The route will further take us to the base camp (4,330m) where we will spend the night.

Hours of walking: approximately 5 hours.

Llamacoral (3,760 masl) - Base Camp (4,330 masl)

Start towards the high camp after breakfast. Now, we will enter the glacier and begin to use our climbing equipment. You will be able to see the west face of Alpamayo from here.

Ascent hours: approximately 7 – 8 hours.

Base Camp (4,330 masl) - High Camp (5,350 masl)

Beginning early, at around 1:00 am we will start climbing on the French or direct route. It will take us eight lengths of 60-meter rope. From the top, you will see stunning views of the Cordillera Blanca range. Later, we will descend by the same rappel route, until we pass the crevasse and then arrive at the Alto camp.

Hours of ascent and descent: approximately 10 hours.

Campo Alto (5,350 masl) - Summit (5,947 masl) - Campo Alto (5,350 masl)

After breakfast, we will descend towards the Base Camp where we will spend our last night.

Hours of descent: approximately 5 hours.

High Camp (5,350 masl) - Base Camp (4,330 masl)

Walking through the valley of Arhuaycocha down the Quebrada de Santa Cruz, we will continue until we reach the town of Cashapampa. From here, you will be transported to Huaraz.

Hours of walking: approximately 6 hours.

### **Join me to climb the summit of the snowy massif of Huascarán in the Peruvian Andes on this week-long trip.**

Located in the majestic Cordillera Blanca range in Huascarán National Park, Huascarán is one mountain that cannot be missed! **This iconic mountain is distinguishable because of its 3 peaks- the north summit (6655m), the east summit (6354 m) and the highest southern summit which stands at an impressive 6768 m.**

The southern summit known as **Huascarán Sur is the highest point in Peru** and the trip will precisely lead you there.

The incredible adventure will begin in Huaraz. From there, we will climb up to the **base camp (4270 m) via Musho**. T**he trail further leads to Campo Moreno, Camp One and Camp Two for the next couple of days**. You will see spectacular **views of the valley of** **Callejón de Huaylas and the neighboring peaks on the way.**

We will have ample time to acclimatize before attempting the summit. The final leg of the journey will begin at Camp Two. Starting early at about 1 a.m we will **scale on ice and snow to eventually get to the top. The summit offers unobstructed views of the Cordillera Blanca range and other high peaks of the Huayhuash.**

Make sure to capture this unbelievable moment by clicking a selfie or two. After some time, we will descend via the same route to get back to the base camp.

Regarding difficulty, keep in mind that **it is a moderate grade trip which requires a good level of fitness.** The climb is somewhat difficult and requires previous mountaineering experience.

Departure from Huaraz in the northwest direction along the Callejón de Huaylas until we reach the town of Musho (3,050m).

From here, we will hike until we reach base camp of Huascaran. You will be able to see the entire valley of Callejón de Huaylas from here.

Transportation duration: 3 hours.

Walking hours: 4 hours.

From Huaraz (3,100 m) to the Base Camp via Musho (3,050 m) 

After breakfast, head towards the brown field located at 4,800m. Taking all the climbing equipment along, ascend Huascaran and continue until we reach Campo Morena.

Rise hours: approximately 5 hours.

Base Camp (4,270 m) - Campo Morena (4,800 m)

Head towards the glacier to reach the camp at 5,300m.

Rising hours: approximately 4 hours.

Campo Morena (4,800 m) to Camp One (5,300 m)

Advance through the icy terrain until we reach Camp Two.

Hike hours: 5 – 6 hours approximately.

Camp One (5,300 m) to Camp Two (6,000 m)

Depart from Camp Two at 1:00 a.m. and head towards the summit. You will be able to see the Blanca mountain range along with the highest peaks of the Huayhuash mountain range. Thereafter, descend via the same route.

Hours of ascent and descent: approximately 10 hours.

Hike from Camp Two (6,000 m) to the Summit (6,768 m) 

Descend after breakfast following the same route to Campo Morena and then arrive at the Base Camp to rest.

Hours of descent: approximately 7 hours.

Camp Two (6,000 m) to the Base Camp (4,270 m)

After breakfast, head towards the town of Musho from where you will return to Huaraz.

Hours of descent: approximately 4 hours.
