FAQs: Splitboarding in Norway

What should I know about Splitboarding Norway?

The Nordic nation of Norway is located in the northwest of Europe, with a population of approximately 5 million. Its northeast coast lies off the Norwegian Sea, while the south coast lies off the North Sea. It shares its long eastern border with Sweden, while to the northeast is bordered with Finland and Russia. It contains a beautiful rugged coastline with thousands of islands and fjords scattered across the seas.

Why should I choose Norway for my Splitboarding adventure?

Famous frozen fjords

The landscape of Norway was once completely covered in a thick ice sheet during the last ice age. As the thick layers of ice started to move, it carved out the deep valleys that now dominate the terrain of Norway. As the ice started to melt it filled the valleys, forming the famous fjords of Norway. Now it forms the picturesque background to some spectacular splitboarding runs.

Alpine playground

The terrain of Norway forms a natural playground for exhilarating runs, especially when the landscape is sprinkled with endless, deep powder. Whether it’s the Lyngen Alps, Uloya Island, or the islands of Svalbard to the extreme north, the mixture of excellent snow conditions, varied slopes, and an arctic isolation provide a unique splitboarding adventure.

Arctic wildlife

The northern sections of Norway provide some of the greatest varieties of wildlife on the continent. Its arctic landscapes, icy coastline and thick forest shelter a bunch of species. The symbolic polar bear wanders Svalbard, while the Walrus rests along the fjord shoreline. And the spotted lynx lurks in the forest as the arctic fox sifts through the frosted glaciers.

What can I expect from the weather in Norway?

Norway is milder than other regions of the far north, thanks to the warm Atlantic waters. Winters are characterised by cold and snowy conditions, with short hours of daylight.

Uloya is a trip of a lifetime. You find surreal beauty, natural elements at their chore where sea, mountains and skies confound, and shared passion from the hosts. Our guide Pavel was super professional and friendly. Artur, the main host loves to share his passion for nature, sport and good food. Explore Share was top class as they integrated our demand for an outdoor expedition very well and drafted out this incredible option very quickly. Easy access for follow up made us feel just good. Ding sledge touring was effectively too short for the price, but it was nevertheless beautiful. Snowscooters as well and the day on the water by boat a perfect break! So, all in whole a perfect holiday thanks to the professional and friendly staff!
