Edward, an IFMGA certified guide, will guide you on this 1-day heli-boarding tour in the Vallée du Trient. Enjoy one of the best spots for skiing and snowboarding in the Alps, while you admire the stunning views of the Valais region and the Rhone Valley.
If you are looking for a snowboarding adventure in a spectacular natural setting, take out your snowboard and join me on this 1-day heli-boarding tour in the Vallée du Trient. This valley is a gorgeous area in between 2 mountain passes, and one of the best spots for skiing and snowboarding in the Alps.
We’ll meet early in the morning at my own Bekker Chalet in Finhaut, where I will welcome you with hot treats: tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Safety is one of my main concerns, so before departing we will go over a safety briefing. Then we will proceed to revise our gear and practice using the avalanche equipment.
Once we make sure we have revised all the safety rules, we’ll take off. We will fly with the best and most reliable flying crew and helicopters, the Air Glaciers. They will take you to remote places, only accessible by helicopter.
I have designed this trip so you can enjoy the best of this region. Therefore I will take you to the magnificent Glacier des Grands and the sublime Glacier du Trient. We will also go to the Col de Plines at 3280m. On the way there, you will have the chance to enjoy the beautiful views of the entire Valais region.
Once in the mountains, we will begin with light slopes. After warming up, we will take a short hike up, so we can reach an area with dazzling scenery of the whole Rhone Valley. We’ll get some rest and enjoy a quick snack and then backcountry powder of the mountain will be all yours.
This 1-day guided heliboarding tour in the Vallée du Trient is recommended for experienced off-piste snowboarders. It will offer fun challenges that will leave you wanting more.
So if this program appeals to you, send me a request. I’ll make sure you have a great time in the Vallée du Trient.
If you are looking for a longer adventure, I also guide this 6-day ski safari tour of Mont Blanc.

In 1987 I became a certified mountain guide after an intense four-year training program at the Technical University of Munich, thus becoming the first guide from the Netherlands to be IFMGA-certified and probably worldwide one of the first guides not originating from an alpine country. As a guide, I do everything from beginner courses in the Alps to worldwide climbing expeditions to the Seven Summits.
Based in Switzerland, just a few kilometers from the French town of Chamonix, I offer customized programs, tailor-made for each of my clients. As an alpinist and mountain guide, I’ve participated in many succesful expeditions, including Mt. Everest (north and south sides), Cho Oyu and Shisha Pangma (Tibet), Aconcagua (Argentina), Yerupaja South Face and Huascaran (Peru), Ojos del Salado (Chile), Mt Hunter and Denali (Alaska), Elbrus (Russia) Carstensz Pyramid (West Papoua) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). I’ve led two UIAA expeditions for talented young climbers: one in China and one in Pakistan. Both were very successful and led to the opening of some new (and sometimes difficult) routes. I’m always looking for new and challenging ski areas and, in recent years, have specialized in ski safaris and ski touring in the Alps, Morocco, Canada, Chile and Scandinavia. Adventure skiing is my passion since a long time and the challenge is to find the best snow and safe skiing and have fun with the group in a remote location. A father of 2, in my spare time, I like to go skiing, mountain biking and climbing with friends and family.

My first proper ski touring trip and I didn’t really know what to expect...it was amazing In every respect. The scenery was stunning and accommodation perfect at MIT FabLab. Haakon looked after us at FabLab and Edward out on the mountain. I felt safe and exhilarated at the same time. The group were diverse with a sense of fun and a common interest in being out on the mountains. It really was a privilege for me to share the week with them. I look forward to another trip next winter. Bob

Fantastic trip with a great group! Edward made the most of the spring conditions. We were blessed with sunny days - touring in shorts and t-shirts. Beautiful views, skiing over fjords, after great ascents! Long descents, all in all an amazing week!!
