Alain, a Freeride World Qualifier skier, wants to ski with you for one or more days in the Tohoku area of Japan, a remote resort area full of great powder.
Spend one or more days skiing with a FWQ athlete in the Tohoku area of Japan.
Choose from a number of amazing spots, including Geto and Appi.
Enjoy the huge area's abundance of great powder and beautiful scenery.
As the tenth ranked Freeride World Qualifier skier in Japan, I would like to show you the slopes of Japan in a way few others can. I would like to show you the tricks and intricacies that most instructors and guides wouldn’t be able to show you. And I would like to show you those things in the Tohoku area of Japan.
The Tohoku area consists of six different prefectures. Each prefecture is different and has its own set of highlights, all of which are worth seeing. However, for the purpose of this trip, we will be focusing on a few specific spots, all of which offer some exceptional skiing opportunities. Those spots include Geto, Hachimandaira, Appi and Shizukuishi.
There are other great advantages to skiing in the Tohoku area. The temperatures are lower than usual, which results in an above average level of snowfall. Thus providing an abundance of powder to ski on. And the area is also not very crowded, especially when compared to Japan’s more famous resort areas.
The resort is remote. However, there is a skinkansen train that can take you there from Tokyo.
During the one or more days you choose to ski with me, the goal is, above else, to have a great time. I will happily help whenever I can, but this isn’t an instructional trip. Instead, this is a trip for skiers, with skiers. With that said, participants should be experienced at a minimum intermediate level.
The Tohoku ski areas are definitely worth visiting if you like riding in powder without too many people around you. Come visit and let’s go skiing together!
- Please note that you will need to sign a liability waiver prior to the beginning of the trip. - Participant will need to have appropriate insurance coverage (including skiing and snowboarding) Also, for safety and liability reasons, we will stay within ski resort boundaries at all times.

I started my skiing career in freestyle skiing - in moguls. Back then, I competed in a lot of freestyle skiing competition such as Big Air. Afterwards, I discovered and immediately fell in love with skiing the mountains "as is" and entered the world of freeride skiing.
I am currently based in the city of Morioka, which is located in the Iwate Prefecture of Tohoku, Japan. I do a lot of backcountry skiing here, particularly in the Amihari and Hachimandaira areas.
I am a Freeride World Tour Qualifier who is currently ranked 10th in Japan.
