The walls in the Copper canyon are even longer and deeper than the ones in the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Hence, it is the absolutely perfect location for a mountain biking trip.
The name of this mesmerizing canyon comes from the copper tones on its walls. But it has many intriguing stories and legends around it. As it is the guardian and home of the Raramuri, who inhabit these lands and will share with us their fascinating culture.
All throughout our mountain biking adventure we’ll enjoy the most breathtaking views of the canyon. Also, we’ll have the chance to ride along paths that the Raramuris use to communicate their towns and settlements. Thus, we’ll get to learn about their history and traditions. We can even visit a cave with old rock art Raramuri paintings.
Some of the impressive places we can visit are the Cerro Colorado and the Rukiraso waterfall, which hosts a magnificent 20 meter fall connecting the Tarecua Canyon. Thereupon, we can venture into the charming woods that surround the Copper Canyon. There lies a hidden wood cabin run by the Raramuri. Then, close to the area are the Mission and Museum of Cusarare. So it is the ideal opportunity to learn more about the local culture.
Other mesmerizing spots we can reach are the towns of Batopilas and La Bufa. Batopilas is en enchanting, small, isolated town. And La Bufa was once a bigger village due to the mining activity, that now is almost deserted. Both with a very interesting history.

What People are Saying about Mexico Adventure Guides-
Daniel and his partner Alex did a great job guiding us, and helping with all the logistics, especially transportation to and from the climb. Alex was a real pleasure to talk with, learn from, and show us the mountain. Thank you, for a great experience!
Daniel was kind enough to pick me up promptly at the airport when I arrived. we drove straight to amecameca and bought a few supplies, we then drove to Popo park and set up camp. Daniel gave a class on crampons, walking sticks and the ice pick and then it was time to sleep and prepare for the early morning hike start. we set off around 0330 and reached the recluso at about 15,500 feet. it was an amazing experience with wonderful views. Thank you Daniel, Alejandro and Yasmin!
