Let one of the certified guides in the Icelandic Mountain Guides team take you on a group cross-country ski tour across Greenland. And enjoy a perfect mix between nature and culture.
This 12-day Arctic Cross-Country Group skiing tour with sledges will take you to the amazing and isolated Inuit Villages in the eastern coast of Greenland.
If you ever dreamed about getting to know the Ammassalik region of Greenland, this is your best option. We’ll guide you across an ancient dog sledding trail, where we’ll go beside impressive tower icebergs.
All along the way we’ll be staying in the Inuits Villages, which are one of the world’s most recently known civilizations. Plus this very scanty populated area is full of natural wonders.
We’ll meet in Reykjavík and fly to Kulusuk, from where we’ll start our journey. From there on we’ll be cross-country skiing for 6 to 8 hours every day pulling our sleds across the Sermiligaaq fjord and through a small glacier and several mountain passes.
During the trip we’ll be staying in tents under the northern sky, which is the best way for spotting the famous northern lights! We’ll also stay in remote cabins, where you’ll get to know the people from the area.
We’ll stay in four villages before arriving to the very colorful capital town of the region, Tasiilaq. And with two nights in each village we’ll get to know the daily life and culture of the local Greenlandic people.
So send us a request to book this 12-day Arctic cross-country group ski expedition across Greenland and get ready for an amazing adventure!

Meeting point Reykjavik domestic airport. |
In the morning of the day before departure is a meeting with the expedition leader. The expedition leader will assess the equipment each member has brought and advise if there will be a need to replace anything. Later that day we have time to arrange for things if needed.
Flight from Reykjavík to Kulusuk. Our flight goes from the domestic airport in the centre of Reykjavík. We will pick you up at your hotel or guesthouse between 10:00 and 10:30. Flight leaves at 11:00 from Reykjavik..
While pulling our sleds across the Sermiligaaq fjord and into the Ikateq strait, we pass an abandoned airfield that is a photographers paradise.
This is the longest and physically hardest part of the expedition. We’ll go through a small glacier and several mountain passes. The mountains are higher, rising up to 2.000 meters, and the valleys are narrower. We’ll ski for around 100 km.
Tiniteqilaaq is one of the smaller communities in the Tasiilaq district, with about 150 people. Without skis we will climb the hills above the town and enjoy the the view over the Sermilik fjord with its gigantic icebergs.
We ski across the Ammassalik island for 35 kms.
Without our sleds we will ski around the Prestfjelded mountain. Arriving back to town through the snow covered flower valley and to the town’s cemetery. We spend the afternoon in town, the souvenir shop, the highly interesting museum and more interesting places in this beautiful town.
In the morning we take a boat back to Kulusuk where the circle is closed. Flight from Kulusuk to Reykjavík.

These guides love what they do and that shows. Without such an experienced mountain guide it would have been impossible to reach the summit in such dangerous conditions of the glacier.
