The Raura-Huayhuash circuit offers a challenging trekking expedition. Combining amazing landscapes, ice surfaces and lakes with cultural exchanges and local people, I have no doubt that it will be a really enriching experience.
First, we’ll drive to Churin Town at 2.080 meters of height. Here we can share a great moment with locals and enjoy the magnificent hot springs.
During the expedition we will also visit other breathtaking places. Torre de Cristal, Santa Rosa and Cullcuhsjanca Mountains are some of them. Beautiful turquoise lakes like Tinquicocha, Patarcocha, Gaico and Huascacocha also wait for us!

Lima - Churin
We will be taken from Lima, capital of Peru, to Churin, a picturesque inter Andean town of the Oyon Region.
During our second day, we will enjoy the hot springs of Churin and then, we will hike up 3.800 meters in order to get our bodies acclimatized thinking of our following trekking days.
First hiking day
We leave Churin towards the Raura Mine, one of the features of the area which is located at 4.600 metres in the central section of the mountain range. Then, we will hike down to Patarcocha Lake where we set up our camp.
Gaico and Huacacocha Lake
We continue hiking through the region of Gocapampa until we get to Gaico Lake, one of the amazing waters of The Raura Range. By the end of the day we will arrive to Huascacocha Lake, another Andean lagoon located at 4.200 meters of height.
Luychos at 4150 m
We leave Huascacocha behind to cross a pass at 4.650 meters heading to Luychos. It is a small town located in Huanuco region at a height of 4.150m. We will spend the night there.
Next goal: Huayhuash
We start to hike to our next objective of the trip: the Huayhuash Range at 4.200 meters.
Viconga hot spring
Early in the morning we leave Huayhuash among a pass at 4.650 m called Portachuelo. By the afternoon we will get to our base camp in Laguna Viconga, where we can take a bath in its relaxing hot springs.
In our ninth day of trek, we will cross the Cuyoc Pass at 5.000m and then, we reach to Pumapampa, a 5.300-meter mountain peak.
After breakfast we will start the descent across the Cajatambo Pass until we get to Cajatambo village, a touristic place characterized by the famous Nevado Huayhuash. We will sleep there and rest for the last two days of adventure.
During this day we continue hiking down to the village of Pativilca where a transfer will be waiting to take us to the Hotel in Lima.
Once in Lima, the program finishes and you can continue visiting this amazing city or go back home.
