Come, join me on this amazing expedition to reach the highest mountain hut in Europe. For 2 days, we will climb the imposing peak of Punta Gnifetti and spend the night at the striking Margherita Hut (4,554m) in Italy.
Located on the border between Italy and Switzerland in the Pennine Alps, Punta Gnifetti is definitely worth exploring.
We will start the journey from the beautiful village of Alagna. Based on your preference, we will choose a place in the village and meet there. Thereafter, I will check for all essential equipment and off we go!
The initial trail takes us towards the Punta Indren glacier. Ascending on snow and ice, we will scale gradually to reach the comfortable Margherita Hut and spend the night there for a true alpine experience.
The next day will begin early at about 5 am. We will pack our enthusiasm and set out towards the summit via the regular route. After hiking for a couple of hours, we will get to the top.
And, what a view it is from the top! After clicking a selfie or two here, we will descend via the same route to return to the starting point of the trek by afternoon. You sure will carry back some unforgettable memories on your way to the valley.
Keep in mind that the trek is of moderate level and involves navigating short steep sections on crevassed glaciers. We will hike for about 8 hours and if you are a mountaineer with some previous climbing experience, this is just ideal for you.
So, strap your boots and send a message now to reserve your seat on this incredible trek in Italy. You will have an exceptional time here, I assure you. Also, check out another ski trip from Alpe Devero to Andermatt in the Alps with me.

Mountain Guide
The desire to turn my passion for the mountains into my profession led me train as a professional mountain guide. I became a certified IFMGA guide in 2005 and have spent more than 200 days per year on the mountains ever since.
Although I usually work in the Mont Blanc area, Monterosa, the Lepontine Alps and the Dolomites, I'm always eager to explore more remote places and have truly unique experiences. I have extensive experience in the Lofoten Islands, in Norway, as well.
To me, reaching the summit is important but not as much as enjoying the journey and sharing some unforgettable moments. The ascent usually provides the chance to enjoy the views, while a night in a bivouac is always a good opportunity to look at the stars and share a good talk.
I speak English, French and Italian, of course.

Paolo was an amazing guide. He was absolutely wiling to work with me to develop the best itinerary for some of the more technical peaks and routes that I was looking to complete in the Alps. I have climbed a lot of technical routes in the Alps, but this was my first time with a guide. He made me feel safe through some technical terrain and we worked together to manage objective risk as much as we could. He guides all over the Alps and does not just repeat Blanc over and over again. I would absolutely reach out to Paolo again for more trips in the Alps. Specifically, he is quite skilled at guiding for rock climbing and ski touring in addition to the big glaciated peaks I did with him.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
