What would Columbus must have felt right before he embarked on his journey into the unknown?  This **unique trip** recreates that exact moment in history. As you will be exploring **La Gomera**, his last stop before heading to America. So, join me, on this unforgettable adventure in the **Canary Islands**. And hike across **La Gomera and Tenerife**, two fantastic places only true explorers have dared to walk through.

Our journey will last one week, over which we will unveil an intriguing network of paths and trails. All of them, gently refreshed by the **ocean’s breeze**. All of them, surrounded by **magnificent mountains** that seem to be their ancient guardians. And, well beyond the **nature wonders** we’ll discover, we’ll get to learn about the **local culture** and try their **exquisite cuisine**.

Moreover, we will be exploring **different and fascinating spots** each day. So each day will be its own adventure. Some of the places we will visit are the **Garajonay National Park**, the **National Park of the Cañadas**, and the peaks of **Anaga** and **Teno**. Also, we’ll explore enchanting forests, beautiful trails and hypnotizing beaches. What’s more, we will hike across many lovely towns and cities, such as **San Cristobal de la Laguna**, **La Orotava** and **Garachico.**

After transfering to Los Cristianos, we’ll have a brief meeting for information.

Flight to Tenerife

First we’ll take a ferry to San Sebastian de La Gomera. Then we’ll trek across the island of La Palma and El Hierro. Thereupon our culminating point will be La Mérica, until we arrive to the Gran Rey Valley.

After visiting the National Park of Garajonay we will head towards Hermigua. And on the way there, we’ll get to visit Roque de Agando, a mountain that will provide us with some of the best views of the island. Also, we’ll explore the Laurisilva forest, cross the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes and arrive at the Cedar. Then, we’ll head to the Cedro canyon, admire the Chorro Waterfalls and the Teide.

We’ll begin by taking a ferry to Tenerife. Then, we will head towards Masca, a beautiful beach with mesmerizing sceneries. Thereupon a ship will pick us up to take us to Port of the Giants.

Our day begins exploring El Palmar, across banana plantations and beautiful sceneries. Then, we’ll hike through a forest until we reach Las Almejeras. After that, we’ll grab lunch at the village of Erjos. Finally, we’ll descend through a dazzling canyon.

On this day we’ll explore the Cañadas del Teide National Park. And then, we will head to the Guajara Mountain where we’ll reach the Degollada de Guajara (2,385 m). After arriving to the summit of Guajara we will descend through the same route.

Our last day will be devoted to the Natural Park of Anaga. Also we’ll explore Las Casas de Afur. After which we’ll head towards its homonymous canyon. Then we will visit the Tamadite Beach, a true treasure in the island, as you can only arrive by foot or by sea. Later, we will head to Taganana, and cross old vineyards to try the local wine. Finally we will arrive at the San Roque Beach.

Canary Islands 1-week Hike, La Gomera & Tenerife

#### On this 8 day adventure, I would like to guide you on a long, varied hike on not 1, but 2 wonderful islands in the Canary Islands of Spain. those 2 islands are La Gomera and Tenerife.

**La Gomera** and **Tenerife** are very different, as the ladder is much larger than the former. However, what these 2 beautiful islands have in common is they will both amaze you and leave you with a plethora of memories that you will be able to look upon for years to come.

We will be hiking every day on this trip, from **3 to 6 hours per day**. So participants should be in **good enough physical condition to maintain that pace**. There will also be some boat rides and drives to take you from one spot to the next. As a result, this trip will show you huge portions of **La Gomera** and **Tenerife**.

When it comes to **La Gomera**, where the majority of the time on this trip will be spent, there are a number of great highlights. Some of those highlights include the **Vallahermoso beach**, **San Sebastian** and **Agulo**. There is also the amazing **Garajonay national park**, which we will spend an entire day trekking through.

In **Tenerife**, while we will be spending much less time there, it will be well worth it. Not only will get to enjoy the island’s beautiful flora and fauna, but you will also get to look up at the summit of **Spain’s highest summit, the Teide Volcano (3,718m)**.

After your arrival at the Tenerife airport, you will be transported to La Gomera, where you will then be transferred to your hotel, where you can enjoy some good food and a briefing about the trip to come.

Arrival

Today we will hike for approximately 5.5 hours. We will ascend in a beautiful valley, have a picnic, and descend to the Vallehermoso beach before being transferred to San Sebastian.

Vallehermoso

Today we will descend from the highest point of La Gomera, the Alto de Garajonay to the beach of the Valle Gran Rey. After that, we will transfer back to San Sebastian. We will be hiking for approximately 5 hours.

Valle Gran Rey

Today we will trek for approximately 5 hours, ascending the steep cliff of Agulo. Afterwards, we will descend to the neighboring valley before being transferred back.

For approximately 5.5 hours, we will trek through the Garajonay national park.

Beginning in Jedurne we will make our way to the south coast until we reach San Sebastian. We will be hiking for approximately 6 hours.

El Cabrito

Early in the morning we will return to Tenerife. Once we arrive, we will make our way to the national park that surrounds the highest peak in all of Spain, the Teide Volcano (3,718m). We will spend approximately 3.5 hours exploring the park. After that, we will return to our hotel.

Las Canadas del Teide

On the final day, we will transfer you to the airport, where you will catch your flight home.

### **Join us on this twin adventure of hiking and dolphin safari in Tenerife! On this day-trip in Spain, we will spend our time trekking in the natural labyrinths of a gorge and explore the marine life of the Atlantic Ocean!** 

The tour is nothing short of **a day filled with fun and so much learning!** We’ll begin in the **beautiful village of Masca**. Passing through s**pectacular ravines, seeing layers of lava, we’ll continue on narrow paths, and see many unique rock formations.**

You’ll also notice the **amazing vegetation of the area and see clear waterfalls** until you hit the **beautiful black sand beach.** The deep blue of the **Atlantic Ocean against the pristine coast** after a long hike will indeed be a calming sight!

Once you arrive at the shore,  you can **go for a swim in the cool waters** to refresh yourself. Thereafter, we’ll **board a catamaran and head towards Los Gigantes to see the adorable dolphins and whales frolicking in the sea.**

The total duration of the hike is about 3.5 hours, following which we will go on a 2-hour long safari. And, just in case you do not wish to hop on the safari, you can always stay back and **relax at the beach under the sun**.

It is an easy hike that involves walking on a bit of loose rock. So, whether you are a seasoned hiker or a newbie, you are definitely in for a treat!

The **Canary Islands**, also named since long ago as *The Fortunate Islands* or *Champs Elysees,* are composed of 7 unique islands: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.

They are home to one of the greatest riches in ecosystems around the world, with dunes, forests, volcanoes, starry skies and above all, beaches, of black sand, blonde, red or white. In addition, the Canary Islands offer good weather all year, suitable for outdoor activities.

I invite you to join me on a 5-day program (3-day trek) in the Canary Islands, travelling to **the island of La Gomera, known as the Magical Island.** La Gomera is a Biosphere Reserve and also has a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna, with many endemic species.

Our tour takes us to immerse ourselves for a few days in the **Garajonay National Park**, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasting a unique ecosystem in the world. **Laurisilva** stands out here, a mass of prehistoric vegetation native to the Macaronesian region that covered the tropics millions of years ago and which has been preserved on the island thanks to its temperate climate.

During these days we will also savor the **typical gastronomy of the Canary Islands**, rich in variety and of great quality. This tour runs during April, May, October and November, from Wednesday to Sunday.

Tenerife

After breakfast we start the adventure. From the port of Los Cristianos we take a boat to Isla de la Gomera, where we will spend the next days. The route begins in Vallehermoso, a small town in the north of the island located at the bottom of a valley, which, as the name says, is very beautiful. The exuberant vegetation of the Garajonay National Park will welcome us as we immerse into it, and the presumptuous valleys will accompany us to Las Hayas, a small town located on the side of the mountain.

Tenerife - Isla Gomera - San Sebastian - Vallehermoso 

Today we will have the opportunity to enter the Valle Gran Rey (Great King Valley) of the Island of La Gomera, one of the most spectacular valleys in the island. We will have lunch enjoying  views of the valley in a restaurant with typical and local food of the Canary Islands. After taking in the views, we will ascend up the valley until we reach Las Hayas, where we will rest to recovery forces for the 3rd stage of this trip.

\* Distance: 10 km. – Ascent: 850 meters. – Down: 850 meters. Duration: 6h. 30 min. // Accomodation: Efigenia rural house (Full Board regime)

Las Hayas - Valle Gran Rey 

Along this stage, we will enjoy the views offered by a place as magical as the laurisilva forest. We will walk along trails that will take us to the Fortress of Chipude, a dome of 1243 meters home to one of the most important archaeological sites in the island. Then we will ascend the Garajonay (1484 mts.), the peak that gives its name to the National Park. The Roques are the final of one of the best routes in the island. Then we will go by private transport to San Sebastian de la Gomera, where we will spend a quiet and relaxing evening, ideal for taking pictures, sunbathing on the beach or swimming in the ocean.

After breakfast we take a boat to return to Los Cristianos, on the island of Tenerife. From there, we take a transport connection to go to the airport. End of trip.
