Description

Experience the rush of touring snow that has never been touched before! Follow me along the southern coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula and ski tour some of the most scenic and wild runs in Russia and the world!

The Kamchatka Peninsula, located in the Russian Far East, extends out into the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean. The Sredinny Mountains run down the center of the peninsula, with the Vostochny Mountains moving along the southeastern coast. This makes for a remote and rare tour if you are looking to discover a new and exciting ski destination.

The coastal mountains and the associated terrain are varied, offering views of the ocean while reaching summits of up to 2,000 meters. There are high ridges, steep bowls, and thrilling couloirs filling the countryside. And best of all, it is a beautiful and charming location that few have ever seen before – let alone skied before.

Our program is designed to place you directly in this isolated paradise, carving out your own dream ski touring vacation. From our week-long home base of a 60-foot catamaran, we will sail the coast in search of the best possible touring conditions in the southeast of Kamchatka, and undoubted giving you the time of your life.

From Petropavlovsk on the Pacific Coast, we will sail south to Vilyuchinskaya Bay and Russkaya Bay, plotting out ski tours throughout the region. We will even have a chance to kayak around the area, making sure we can discover every inch of the wilderness.

By staying on a yacht, we finish each down skiing down to the ocean. We can tour around the entire coastline and the Vostochny. Depending on the weather and our goals for the day, it will be an absolute blast breaking in the peninsula.

Our evenings on the catamaran will recharge us throughout the trip. Our cook will make sure we have Russian meals that will sustain us, and we will also be able to enjoy hot showers.

This is a unique cultural adventure that I am excited to share with you. My expertise will give you the most from your trip, and I will guide you through a safe journey that only happens once in a lifetime.

This is a sustained program, one that requires ski touring experience and a high fitness level. You should be mentally prepared and excited to take on the challenges of a remote ski touring trip.

Book this week-long excursion into the wild of Kamchatka and have a once-in-a-lifetime ski touring experience!

I am also planning an expedition to ski tour and explore Antarctica, and I´d love for you to join me!

Accommodation

We will be staying on a catamaran for six nights, and our last night in a guesthouse in Petropavlovsk. The catamaran has central heating, two bathrooms, and a 220-volt charging station for electronics.

Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Petropavlovsk

We will meet in the harbor to go over the itinerary, safetey, and equipment. Around 2:00pm, we will board the yacht and begin our journey, heading first for Vilyuchinskaya Bay. If there is time, we may even enjoy an evening ski.

Day 2: Vilyuchinskaya Bay

Our goal today will be in the north, skiing mountains that may or may not have names, and many of which have never been skied before.

Day 3: South of Vilyuchinskaya

We will head to the south end of the bay, looking for the best conditions and runs. At the end of the afternoon, we will depart Vilyuchinskaya Bay and move to Russkaya Bay.

Day 4: Russkaya Bay

To the southwest of the bay, there are great couloirs and steep runs for us to explore.

Day 5: Russkaya Bowls

In the north, the terrain is steep and perfect to ski. It will certainly offer many runs that have never been touched.

Day 6: Russkaya Views

The south of Russkaya Bay has gorgeous ocean scenery, and provides ample opportunity to ski tour into previously unexplored territory.

Day 7: Return to Petropavlovsk

We will ski tour in the morning, and then leave in the afternoon for Petropavlovsk. We will stay in a guesthouse for the night.
