Description

Join me on this thrilling and adventurous 7-days of ski mountaineering in Mount Kazbek, and we will see and experience some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery that Georgia has to offer, as we traipse and travail around the massive slopes, taking in the sweeping panoramic views of the mountain and the surrounding countryside.

Mount Kazbek (5,033m) is a dormant volcano located in the Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia, and is the 3-rd highest peak in the country. The area surrounding the mountain is Kazbegi nature reserve, ensuring the both the mountain and nature reserve attract outdoor activity enthusiasts all-year-round.

Our trip begins when we meet in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia, on day 1, where we will sightsee and prepare for the adventure ahead.

On day 2 we transfer to Stephantsminda, before we start the ski touring on day 3.

Over the subsequent 4 days we will be incrementally ski touring our way up the mountain, with in-built rest and acclimatization periods in order to stave off the effects of high altitude.

Day 6 is the focal point and undoubted highlight of the trip, as we head to the summit of Mt. Kazbek, with approximately 10 hours of ski touring to get there.

The views from the summit are truly special, with seemingly the whole Caucasus and Georgian countryside stretching out beneath us, making for an absolutely breathtaking sight.

We finish our trip by skiing down the mountain and heading back to Tbilisi, where we say our goodbyes, hopefully having made you fall in love with this part of the world and want to return.
