Highlights

Come enjoy the amazing Japanese powder while you admire the incredible sakura -cherry blossom season- with this 8-day ski touring trip in Japan.

Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossom season and it’s the best time of the year to visit Japan. It’s considered the national flower of the country and its pink, violet and many other colours invade the landscape for a few weeks.

You must have seen pictures of the perfectly shaped Mount Fuji with snow on top and thousands of colorful trees painting the lower countryside.

I’ve put together a tour that will combine different great features: I’ll take you skiing up to the Mount Shirouma area, to enjoy the amazing powder in this backcountry terrain in Nagano, you’ll enjoy some relaxing time in the Renge-Onsen hot springs and the end of the trip will be coronated with an ascent to the famous Mount Fuji!

You’ll get a glimpse of the best outdoor activities to do in Japan, while you admire during the whole trip the amazing scenery decorated with the colours of the cherry blossom.

Also on the 6th day we can stop to visit the Nagano-Zenkouji Temple. And I can take you to visit Tokyo on the last day, if you wish.

So don’t hesitate and send me a request to make this 8-day Sakura ski touring trip in Japan your next big adventure.

I’m already fully booked for the 2018 winter season. Book in advance for 2019!

    About the Guide

I am an IFMGA mountain guide, also certified by the JMGA, born in Slovenia. Slovenia is known as one of the major sporting countries in the world - I used to compete at the Olympics representing Slovenia in Cross-country Skiing. After I left Slovenia, I travelled all over the world and ended up in Japan, where I have now lived for more than 20 years, mainly because I love the beautiful Japanese mountains too much, and I feel privileged to be able to enjoy these mountains through the entire four seasons.

I am based at the foot of the Japan Alps, in Nagano Prefecture. In the winter, we go climbing or skiing around Mt. Fuji or Yatsugatake and in the summer, we can enjoy shower-climbing or canoeing. It is my absolute pleasure to also take you and guide you in my home country in Slovenia.

In addition to guiding the mountains, I also enjoy having the opportunity to teach mountain climbing skills to every level of climbers. This is because I want everyone to enjoy Japanese mountains safely.

I am the first non-Japanese mountain guide registered with the Japan Mountain Guide Association. Please contact me if you would love to have great experiences in the mountains in all seasons with me!

Our climbing trip was amazing - despite being during the wettest & hottest season in Japan! Due to the weather, our original destination was not possible. Yet Cveto was able to quickly coordinate an alternative plan that would get us on the rocks. Both Cveto & Chiharu were highly communicative & responsive with us (as we planned our trip from Australia). Cveto himself was easy to get along with as well as being extremely knowledgeable. He helped us grow, both in terms of learning climbing skills and pushing mental barriers with lead climbing and rappelling. Overall a really enjoyable course with plenty of practical application of the new skills packed into the two-day course. We highly recommend Cveto for anyone looking to actually apply these skills on rock rather than practicing endlessly on the ground. We are hoping to travel next year to climb & learn with Cveto again.

Our family of four had the best time with Cveto. Our goal was to get our kids (ages 9 and 11) to the top of Fuji-san before the public open season and I don\'t think we could have done it without Cveto. Of everything we did during our 11 days in Japan, climbing Fuji-san was our favorite highlight. Cveto was communicative about preparations, gear, and weather before the trip and was the consummate professional during the climb. He even short-roped our 9-yr old during a period of altitude sickness.
