Arête des Cosmiques (also known as the Cosmiques Ridge) is one of the most popular climbing routes in the Mont Blanc Massif (4,808m), on the border between France and Italy. It is perfect for those taking their first steps into alpine climbing, while offering enough terrain variety and challenges to entertain experienced climbers as well.

The Cosmiques Ridge is a short route that involves about 4 to 5 hours of rock, snow and ice climbing. While it is not too difficult, it has a few challenging sections with steep rock walls, often climbed with crampons. It offers stunning open views to the mountains, snow arêtes and alpine glaciers in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.

Our trip will begin and end at the Aiguille du Midi cable car station (3,777 meters), located in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc commune, in the French southeastern region of Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. A 20 minute-ride will take us up to the summit at 3,842m, where we will enjoy a view to the famous Mont Blanc (4,808), the highest peak in the Alps and in the whole western Europe. We will then walk over 30 minutes down the Aiguille du Midi’s south face, through an ice tunnel, to reach the base of the ridge. Finally, we will climb during 3 to 4 hours to the top of the ridge.

I will take a maximum of 2 people on this tour. While participants are not required to have previous climbing experience, they need to be in good shape.

Climb the fascinating Arête des Cosmiques route in one of the world’s top mountaineering destinations. Book your trip now!

If you are looking for other activities in the area, check out the Aiguille du Tour ascent in 2 days.

    About the Guide

I started mountaineering at 16 in the Mont Blanc Massif. I immediately loved the diversity of mountain sports: ice, snow, rock, the fact that activities change every season and we must aim for perpetual adaptation. It is the human emotions experienced up there that make me want to progress.

After 4 years of competition in ice climbing, I joined the French national mountaineering group. Expeditions in the Dolomites, Norway, and Alaska are a great opportunity to travel and excel in a strong group.

I'm 24 years old and live in Annecy (Haute Savoie), close to the Mont Blanc Massif. I am aspirant guide and it will be my pleasure to share with you my experience on the Aravis' limestone or the snowy slopes of Mont Blanc.

Beyond the classic excursions and the satisfaction of reaching a summit, I would like you to discover the warmth of a sunrise or the joy of a celebratory hug.

Rien a redire sur organisation sauf qu il vaudrait mieux payer par journee que pre payer par personne vu qu on ne sait pas toujours a l avance combien il y aura de skieurs par famille lors de conges scolaires . A part cela top et bravo
