Discover the impressive length and loneliness of the Breithorn (Lauterbrunnen) south ridge. Sharing the mountain with dozens of other rope teams is definitely not going to happen on this “Climb and Fly” 2-day tour!

The Breithorn (3780m) is a peak in the Bernese Alps. Located on the border between Valais and Bern, it is part of the border between Lötschental and Lauterbrunnen valley.

The Breithourn south ridge ascent is one of the longest and most demanding in the Alps, with a climb of 2100 meters and 8 to 11 hours of climbing time up to difficulty level IV. But once you reach the summit, a paraglide will take you down!

So if you enjoy lonely, long and demanding climbing tours, and also like to fly, this proposal is the right choice for you! After reaching the top of the mountain, as a solo pilot or by tandem flight, you will glide comfortably towards the valley.

On the first day, we will stay overnight at the cozy Fafleralp hotel, located in the midst of a small forest. Next day, after breakfast we will start the ascent. through the Breithorn south ridge. From the summit you will enjoy breathtaking views! After a short descent on the west ridge, it is time to fly to Lauterbrunnen! Check out the detailed itinerary below.

 The price listed above is for a "solo pilot" flight. The price for a Tandem flight is 2140 CHF. The price includes guiding fee, tandem pilot, accommodation/half board at the Fafleralp Hotel. / The price does not include costs for arrival, return, any transport costs as well as personal expenses, or any costs for rental material. The cost of mountain guide's expenses will be divided among participants (transportation costs, accommodation and half-board meals).
 

Itinerary

 
  • Day 1Fafleralp Hotel

    Arrival by public transport to Fafleralp VS. Short walk to the very cozy Fafleralp Hotel, located in the midst of a small, light forest. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

  • Day 2Breithorn summit (3780m)

    After breakfast at the hotel, we start hiking on gentle terrain in the morning. It is perfect for warming up in the mountain. After about half an hour, we get into the steeper southern flank of Gugginbärges, where the trails gradually lose their way. After an ascent of about 600 meters and 2 hours we each the south ridge of the Breithorn where the actual climbing begins.

    From now on we follow the south ridge, climbing to the summit of the small Breithorns (3656m). From the summit of Klein Breithorn, we have to descend again to the ridge, which forms the entrance to the Breithorn’s main summit. Then, climbing ever rock belts and a firn edge, which pulls down from the summit, we finally reach the summit of Breithorn (3780m). Ascent: 1500m. Time: 6-8h.

    Hurray! The long, demanding ridge lies behind you and the spectacular view over the Lötschental and Lauterbrunnen valleys, the Kanderfirn glacier and the surrounding peaks let you forget the effort! Now we descend on the West ridge down to the Wetterlücke (3169), a high mountain pass. Small rock ledges make it easy to get there. Ascent: 600m. Time: about 2h.

    After a long day, now is time to unpack the umbrella and fly to Lauterbrunnen in the evening! Enjoy your paraglide ride to the valley!
