Would you like to enjoy an unforgettable Bulgaria skiing adventure? Then join us on this 8-day ski touring trip in the Pirin and Rila Mountains.

The Pirin and Rila Mountains are located in southwest Bulgaria and boast stunning peaks, valleys, and forests to explore on a ski touring adventure. On this 8-day program, we will have the chance to discover some of the best spots in the region and enjoy spectacular sparkling white snowscapes, green pines, and clear blue winter skies. In the evenings, you will be able to relax in front of the fire in small family hotels hidden in the forest. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Please keep in mind that this tour is for skiers with experience. Furthermore, you will need to be physically fit to join. Of course, we will be there every step of the way to help and guide you.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Arriving at Sofia airport and meeting with the group guide. Transfer (1.30 h.) to the Rila mountain range and the region of the Seven Lakes. Accommodation here at a nice hotel, situated in the forests. Traditional dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Rila Mountains

Start – 2135 m.; Highest point – 2729 m.; Finish – 1770 m.; Time – 7,30 h.
Breakfast. After a short transfer a chairlift will take us to the “Rila Lakes” hut, at an altitude of 2100 m. above sea level: today we will ascent through the Seven Lakes to the “Razdela” high pass and then follow the main ridge to the famous Malyovitsa summit – the symbol of alpinism in Bulgaria. Some amazing views are in store for us. Next, we will ski down from the summit to the “Malyovitsa” ski resort and get accommodated in a nice hotel here. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 3: Mount Musala

Start – 2369 m.; Highest point – 2926 m.; Finish – 1420 m.; Time – 6,30 h. Breakfast. Short morning transfer (30 min.) to the Borovets ski resort. Next is a 25-minute transfer with the gondola to the higher parts of the mountain. Ascent to the highest peak of Bulgaria – mount Musala (2926 m.). The alpine views of glacial lakes and ridges from the summit are amazing. Ski back to Borovets – an incredible 1500 meter descent. Back to our accommodation in Malyovitsa. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Popova Kapa and Lopushki

Start – 1770 m.; Highest point – 2704 m.; Finish – 1370 m. Time – 6,30 h.
Breakfast. We will start with an ascent to the famous “Scary lake”, from where we will admire the most alpine part of the Rila mountains. Our way will lead us to the Popova Kapa (2704 m.) and Lopushki (2698 m.) summits, from where we will ski down straight by the “Mechit” mountain hut, situated deep in the pine forests, down to a spot, from where we will be picked up and transferred to our hotel.. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Rest Day and transfer to Bansko

Today it is time for relaxation – after breakfast, we will visit a hot mineral pool in the town of Sapareva Banya. Next is a transfer (3.30 h.) to Bulgaria’s most popular winter ski resort – Bansko. A chance for some skiing in the Bansko ski area (optional). Accommodation in a nice hotel in the old town. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Pirin Range

Start – 2230 m.; Highest point – 2851 m.; Finish – 1895 m. Time – 7 h.
Breakfast. It is time to visit the Pirin range. Short early transfer (30 min.) from Bansko to a nearby chairlift, which will take us to “Bezbog” mountain hut at 2230 m. From here we will start or ski tour – ascent to Polejan summit at 2851 m. Some of the best views of the winter Pirin range can be enjoyed from here. Next is almost a kilometer long ski descent down to “Demyanitsa” hut, where we will accommodate. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Todorka summit

Start – 1895 m.; Highest point – 2712 m.; Finish – 1745 m. Time – 7 h.
Breakfast. Today we will ascent to the Todorka summit. The route takes us through the beautiful terrain of forests, lakes and rocky pointed peaks. From the 2712 m. the high summit we will ski down to the popular Vihren hut. Next is a short ski descent to the road, from where by a short transfer (20 min.) we will return to Bansko. Same accommodation as on day 5. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast. A chance for some skiing in the Bansko ski area (optional). Transfer (2.30 h.) to the capital city Sofia. Departure from Sofia airport.
