Have you been dreaming about skiing the best powder in the world? And in a remote location where you have exclusive access to unbelievable runs? Then follow me to western Canada for a 12-day road trip that includes off-piste skiing and heliskiing in the Canadian Rockies!

The frontier of western Canada is as vast as it is beautiful. Stretching across Alberta and British Columbia are some incredibly peaceful patches of nature, including the evocative Rocky Mountains – home to Banff National Park – and the Columbia Mountains.

The region is best known for its access to the inaccesible; remote skiing by way of touring, splitboarding, and heliskiing have a heavy following in this adventure hub in North America. Sports enthusiasts travel from far and wide specifically for the impeccable conditions that Canada can provide.

Along with an abundance of dry snow, the wooded terrain makes every run scenic and spectacular. It offers fun challenges in a forest setting with new and exciting runs that go on and on.

And now it is your turn to experience this winter wonderland! We will meet at the Calgary Airport to start our trip, and I will take us into the heart of Canada. My 15 years of skiing and immersing myself in Canadian snow culture will guide us to the perfect program that lasts the better part of two weeks.

We will reach Canmore, a fantastic central starting point for a few days of off-piste skiing and delectable runs. We can ski tour, check out the prime resort runs, and have a blast discovering the best snow in Canada. Chateau Lake Louise and the greater Lake Louise area are an absolute must, and you might even snap some unimaginable photos – moose included.

After our extensive hunt for powder in the Rockies, we will move to the heliskiing phase of our journey, flying from a helipad near Golden into the Bugaboos and the definition of remote skiing. Five days of heliskiing features an incomparable all-inclusive resort stay, so days of adrenaline-pumping tree skiing on untouched snow fade into relaxing nights in preparation for the next day´s adventure.

When five days are up, we will have one last chance to ski the slopes near Golden and Canmore, taking advantage of our limited time on this amazing terrain. From there, we head back to Calgary and home, having successfully completed the trip of a lifetime.

I have extensive experience in the region, and a knowledge of skiing that can guarantee you will have a remarkable and unforgettable time. I have explored the best spots in Canada for an ultimate ski and road trip, and I am totally stoked to share my expertise with you!

This sustained program includes off-piste and remote skiing that is most enjoyable for intermediate to advanced skiiers. You should have off-piste experience and be in good shape to get the most out of this program.

Stop waiting and start BOOKING this 12-day, once-in-a-lifetime ski and road trip through the incredible wilderness of western Canada and its unrivaled snow!

We can even check out an excursion to Europe and Mont Blanc for any adventurers looking for their next thrill!

We will be staying at a remote heliski lodge in the Bugaboo Mountains for part of our program, as well as hotels during the road trip.

About the guide

guide profile img

In 1987 I became a certified mountain guide after an intense four-year training program at the Technical University of Munich, thus becoming the first guide from the Netherlands to be IFMGA-certified and probably worldwide one of the first guides not originating from an alpine country. As a guide, I do everything from beginner courses in the Alps to worldwide climbing expeditions to the Seven Summits.

Based in Switzerland, just a few kilometers from the French town of Chamonix, I offer customized programs, tailor-made for each of my clients. As an alpinist and mountain guide, I’ve participated in many succesful expeditions, including Mt. Everest (north and south sides), Cho Oyu and Shisha Pangma (Tibet), Aconcagua (Argentina), Yerupaja South Face and Huascaran (Peru), Ojos del Salado (Chile), Mt Hunter and Denali (Alaska), Elbrus (Russia) Carstensz Pyramid (West Papoua) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). I’ve led two UIAA expeditions for talented young climbers: one in China and one in Pakistan. Both were very successful and led to the opening of some new (and sometimes difficult) routes. I’m always looking for new and challenging ski areas and, in recent years, have specialized in ski safaris and ski touring in the Alps, Morocco, Canada, Chile and Scandinavia. Adventure skiing is my passion since a long time and the challenge is to find the best snow and safe skiing and have fun with the group in a remote location. A father of 2, in my spare time, I like to go skiing, mountain biking and climbing with friends and family.
