Description

Artesonraju is a 6.025-meter peak located in the Cordillera Blanca of The Peruvian Andes. It is famous because of its imposing sceneries and because it is the icon of the “Paramont Pictures”, the recognized film company.

Artesonraju has an unbelievable piramidal shape and it is completely snow-capped in any time of the year. That’s why, whatever trail you take to get to the summit, you will need technical equipment and a good physical training. Of course, I can assure you the best experience to achieve it.

We can do it by two different ways, although both of them will take us 5 hard climbing days. The first rout runs through the North and is born in the Santa Cruz Valley. The second one ascends the Eastern face from Paron Lagoon, bordering the Paron Valley.

To know more about these two options, please read the following itinerary.

BY PARON VALLEY

DAY 1: STARTING POINT

We will meet in Huaraz in order to be taken to Paron Lake, our starting point. From there, we will hike up to our first base camp at 4.300 meters.

DAY 2: HIGH CAMP

Early in the morning we will get ready to continue ascending steeply. After 4-5 hours we will finally reach to a high camp at 5.400m in which we spend the night.

DAY 3: SUMMIT DAY

After breakfast we charge energy for a very hard day. From the high camp we climb up to 6.025-meter Artesonraju Summit. After admiring such a viewpoint of Cordillera Blanca and taking some pictures, we will return to the high camp to rest.

DAY 4: HIKE DOWN TO BASE CAMP

On our fourth day we will descend from the high camp to the base campsite at 4.300 meters.

DAY 5: ENDING POINT

We will be finally in Paron Lake again by the afternoon, where our transfer will take us back to Huaraz.

BY SANTA CRUZ VALLEY

DAY 1: STARTING POINT

We will meet in Huaraz, where we will drive to the village of Cashapampa. It will be our starting point from where we hike up to Llamacorral at 3.700 meters, to spend our first camp night.

DAY 2: ARTESONRAJU BASE CAMP

We leave Llamacorral early in the morning in order to get to the base camp of Aeresonraju Peak 4.300 meters high.

DAY 3: MORAINE CAMP

During our third day of adventure we will walk among a moraine land until we get to the next campsite at 4.850 meters. We will rest there and get ready for a following summit day.

DAY 4: SUMMIT DAY

After leaving the Moraine Camp we start our hardest section of the trip: the ascent to Artesonraju Summit. Once in there, you won’t believe how you have done it and I swear it’s an amazing sensation. Return to the Base Camp.

DAY 5: ENDING POINT

We keep descending until Cashapampa. Then, a transfer will take us to Huaraz again. End of our services.

As you can see, no matter which route you choose. They both will offer you a challenging and technical experience across the fantastic Cordillera Blanca. It will be a pride for me to be your guide in this exciting mountaineering adventure. Contact me as soon as you can. You won’t regret!
