The Artesonraju is a 6.025-meter peak located in the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca. It is famous for being the icon of “Paramount Pictures”, a recognized film company.
Artesonraju is a completely snow-capped piramidal mountain and remains so throughout the year. That is why, whatever trail you take to reach the summit, you will need technical equipment and good physical training. Going with a local certified mountain guide is therefore mandatory to have a safe experience.
We can climb Artesonraju by two different routes. There are no technical differences between them and both will take us 5 hard climbing days. Today I’d like to invite you to conquer this 6025-meter summit via the Paron Lagoon, bordering the Paron Valley. That way we’ll attack the east face of the mountain.
The second route ascends by its northern face from the Santa Cruz Valley. I also guide there. You can find my program with this optional route here. Regardless the route you choose, they will offer a challenging experience along the Cordillera Blanca.
It will be a honor for me to be your guide in this mountain adventure. Contact me now and book your place. You won’t regret it!
Huaraz - Paroon Lake
We will meet in Huaraz in order to be taken to Paron Lake, our starting point. From there, we will hike up to our first base camp at 4.300 meters.
High Camp (5400 m)
Early in the morning we will get ready to continue ascending steeply. After 4-5 hours we will finally reach to a high camp at 5.400m in which we spend the night.
After breakfast we charge energy for a very hard day. From the high camp we climb up to the 6.025-meter Artesonraju Summit. After admiring such a viewpoint of Cordillera Blanca and taking some pictures, we will return to the high camp to rest.
Hike down to base camp
On our fourth day we will descend from the high camp to the base camp at 4.300 meters.
Paroon Lake - Huaraz
We will be finally in Paron Lake again by the afternoon, where our transfer will take us back to Huaraz.
