Description

The Chopicalqui is a challenging summit at 6.345 meters of height in the Cordillera Blanca, Perú. It is located between the peaks Huascaran and Contrahierbas, in Yungay province and it’s the highest mountain in the region.

Due to its altitude, from the Chopicalqui’s summit we can admire several Andean villages. Huandoy, Pisco, Chacraraju and Yanapaccha are some of them.

If you want to join me for this amazing program you must have a good physical condition and some mountaineering experience. That way you’ll fully enjoy each step of the journey.

At the end of this description you will find more details of the day by day itinerary. You can check out many other interesting climbing trips I lead in the Cordillera Blanca, such as this ascent to the Artesonraju Peak.

And if you’re decided to come to this 5-day climbing trip send me your request and book your place. Your next mountain adventure is waiting for you!

Glacier climbing

It will be an intensive day since we have to climb some rocky slopes during the first 50 minutes of the morning until we get to the glacier. After that, we will put our ice climbing equipment on, in order to continue with the following 3 hours up to the campsite at 5.500 m.

Day 4

Summit day

In our fourth day we will have the challenge of reaching to the Chopicalqui Summit. For that, we will leave the camp very early in the morning because six hours of intensive climb are waiting for us. Once in the highest point of the mountain we will enjoy such a viewpoint at more than 6.000 meters and then, we’ll return to the Morena Camp to rest.
