Join an IFMGA mountain guide for 5 exciting days of rock climbing and via ferrata in Argentera (3297m) and Monviso (3841 m).
I invite to you to an exciting 5-day trip in the Southern Alps, reaching the summits of Argentera and Monviso.
Only 45 kilometers away from the Côte d’Azur you’ll find Mount Argentera (3297 m). This massif with four peaks is the highest of the Maritime Alps.
In fact, it is located in the Maritime Alps Nature Park, a large protected area in Italy, with many species of flora and fauna.
Monviso (3841 m), on the other hand, is a solitary mountain which you can see from far away. Because of that, it’s a very unique peak. Besides, from its summit, you can have a wonderful panoramic view of the Southern Alps.
Both places are the ideal playground to practice rock climbing and climb and impressive via ferrata.
You can find a complete program for this trip below this description.
Please contact me if you want to join me for this climbing trip! I will be happy to show you my favorite spots in this area.
Accommodation Pleasant mountain lodges and camping or hotel. |
We meet and check your equipment. Then, we drive to the end of the ‘Vallone della Valletta’ and from there to the cozy rifugio Remondino (2430 m). (+ 700 m)
From the hut we go through huge boulders and a steep morenepad to the Passo dei Dentriti.
Here is where the actual climb begins, on the eastern flank of the Southern Argentera summit (3297 m). We descend by the same route and take a room in the charming village of Entracque. (+ 900 m / -1600 m).
Just outside the village, in the rock walls around the Pian di Funs we surrender ourselves to the impressive via ferrata.
In the afternoon we enjoy a nice cold beer in the casual atmosphere of Entracque.
Optional: At the request of the participants we can do in the morning part of the via ferrata and after the transfer to Pian del Rey, call the Rifugio Quintino Sella. (+ 800 m)
Transfer from Cuneo to the source of the Po. From the hilltop Pian del Rey we walk along the lagio Fiorenza and lagio Chiaretto to Quintino Sella Refuge (2640 m). (+ 800 m)
Early day. We bypass the Lagio Grande di Viso and rise steeply to Passo di Sagnette.
Then we go through the rocks to the top of the solitary Monviso (3841 m). We go back the same day to the valley. (+ 1300 / -2000 m)
Optional: If we reached the summit yesterday, today we descend through an alternate way back down to the valley. (-800m)

My first experience with alpinism but 100% worth it. Because of bad weather we couldn’t ascend the Mont Blanc but the backup program saved the trip. Learned a lot and seen mighty things. Overall, enjoyed a lot, a week we will never forget.

We had a marvellous week, it matched our expectations and we had souvenirs which will never fade away. The flexibility from our program because of the bad weather, was great, each time we had a discussion about what we could do and couldn’t. Reaching the top was always the goal. Also the fact I did this with my daughter gave it an extra dimension. We enjoyed every step because we were in good shape. Everybody insisted on this, but at the end, it turned out to be an advantage.

I had a very good time and it has been a fantastic week to fulfill my dream of Mont Blanc, with extra reward of the experience of climbing Gran Paradiso, both mountains are amazing and we are blessed by very good weather. And thanks to Jan and my guide, they are always there to encourage me during the hardest moment, without them I can\'t do this.

Extraordinary experience to stand on the top of Europe. Emotionality because of the beauty and natural ferocity going into your body creates definitely a unique fuddle. Afterwards I had regrets I could not stay longer on the top, especially because the weather was clear and mild. Grandiose!

Top trip !!! Stunning views from the top of Europe. Enjoyable guides with enough experience. Having some luck with the weather, you really have to do it. It’s enough to have a good physical condition and some perseverance. Fun to do but it’s suffering and pretty expensive.

We had all ingredients for a marvellous holiday. The good weather, together with the professional support of our guides, the sublime Alps and the Top of Mont-Blanc, made it an unforgettable experience.

Great. Gran Paradiso was a good preparation and off course a nice experience. The one day ice course was fun and very useful. Because of bad weather, I also would recommend this program, which existed of 3 chances the reach the summit. If we had chosen another program, we probably couldn’t reach summit. Now we did it in blue sky conditions! It’s the flexibility (3 summit chances 2 by 2) of the program which I liked the most. It’s an incredible experience and will always have a special place in my memories. It’s a super feeling to stand on the top of Europe. I really recommend the program (Gran Paradiso + Mont Blanc); not relying on other people and having a maximum chance to get to the top. (With a good condition off course). I had to sacrifice a lot, but it’s worth it.

Professional guide who carefully assessed our climbing and fitness abilities to get to the top unfortunately we came down a bit too fast and I fell and broke my big toe and was unable to attempt the Mont Blanc climb which was very disappointing because I felt ready to try. We felt challenged but relatively safe all of the time, the fall was an unfortunate mistake. Jan offered us additional training between the climbs to improve our chances on Mont Blanc which we really appreciated but were unable to take advantage of. We would climb with him again.
