Monte Argentera and Monte Viso are the pearls of the Southern Alps. Climb them in this pleasant 5-day trip with Jan, IFMGA certified mountain guide.
The Pearls of the Southern Alps.
About 45 km from the Cote d’Azur rises the Argentera with his 3297 m above the other mountains.
In fact, it is the highest point of the Maritime Alps. The very rich flora and fauna of the National Park where it is underlie its position as the main base for mountaineers in the sunlit Alps.
Monviso, which is further north, governed alone, and with more than 3800 m, the Po Valley. From far and wide, it is indeed visible from far and immediately falls in the eye. Its isolated location makes it unique in the Alpine landscape.
It is one of the mountains I enjoy the most!

In pleasant refuges and camping or hotel.
If useful, we can share a vehicle. Calculate around € 75 for members / € 100 for non-members for refuges. No prior experience is required. You need to have a good physical condition.
We will meet and check together the equipment. We drive to the end of the “Vallone della Valletta” and hike from there to the cozy Rifugio Remondino (243 0m).
From the hut we go over the massive boulders and then on the steep moraine to the Passo dei Dentriti. Here the actual ascent starts through the eastern slopes of the Southern Argentera summit (3297 m). We descend along the same road and take a room in the pleasant village of Entracque.
Just outside the village, in the rock walls around the Pian di Fun, we will climb on the impressive via ferrata. We will be busy for a while, and in the late afternoon with a refreshing beer we will enjoy the casual atmosphere of Entracque.
We will transfer from Cuneo to the source of the Po. From the hilltop Pian del Rey we walk along the lagio Fiorenza and lagio Chiaretto to the Quintino Sella Refuge (2640 m).
Early today. We bypass the Lagio Grande di Viso and rise steeply to the Passo di Sagnette. Then it goes through the rocks to the top of the solitary Monviso (3841 m). We descend the same day back down into the valley.
- UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide -
Mountaineering means for me passion and profession. That’s why I’m always happy to share this passion, enthusiasm and experiences with my clients in our beautiful mountains.
After climbing lots of challenging summits in the Himalayas and the Andes and numerous technical climbs in the European Alps, I followed the prestigious mountainguides course at the famous ENSA, the French guides school in Chamonix. The “capital of European mountaineering” so became my new summer base for now already so many years.
I like to work everywhere in the European mountain range in France, Switzerland and Italy. Offering particular and shared mountain experiences to great mountain lovers and families is one of my greatest pleasures but I also love to coach motivated young climbers to independent and safe mountaineers.
Therefor I can offer you challenging week programs of various technical levels but also tailor made programs to fulfil your most beautiful mountain dreams.
Let the mountains be yours.
