5-day guided climbing trip in Val d'Anniviers, reaching the summit of Mount Bishorn and enjoying impressive views of the Imperial Crown (4000 m peaks).
Join me for a 5-day climbing trip in Val d’Anniviers, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Valais. We’ll reach the summit of Mount Bishorn at 4135 m and enjoy some great views!
Mount Bishorn is known as one of the easiest peaks to climb in the Alps. However, it is part of a group of impressive mountains above 4000 meters: the Imperial Crown. Weisshorn, Matterhorn, Dent Blanche and Obergabelhorn are some of the peaks you can see from its summit.
This 5-day program combines climbing in different terrains like rock, ice and snow, seeing local flora and fauna, and enjoying beautiful landscapes. Besides, climbs are technically simple and don’t require previous experience.
For further details about this trip, you can find a complete itinerary below this description.
Are you spending some days in the Alps? So come with me for this amazing week of adventures in the mountains! I will be happy to be your guide.
Pleasant mountain huts.
-No previous experience required. Good physical condition. -There are two physically heavier days on day 2 and 5. -I recommend taking Swiss money for to pay for huts, funicular and transfer.
Start at Saint Luc in the Val d’Anniviers. We take the train to Tignousa where our journey really begins.
Today we put an double top on the program. First, we climb along the Bella Tola mountain lake to the col. From there, the Rothorn (2998m) and the Bella Tola (3025m) within reach.
Both peaks are known for their splendid panoramic view of the Rothorn and we have an impressive depth view of the Rhone valley. Descent is made along the same road to subsequently take up residence in the Bella Tola hut (2346 m). (+ 850 m / -680 m)
From the Bella Tola hut we step over the Lac de l’Armina to Meidpas.
From now on, we have to do everything in German. We descend into the pretty “Meidtälli” through Meidsee to the reservoir on the Turtmannrivier. From here we have a climb that brings us to the same hut (2519 m). (+ 1150 m / -900 m)
We rise to the Schöllijoch (3583 m, 3610 m). After the descent we take back our move into the Turtmannhütte. (+ 1100 m / -1100 m)
Today we are faced with a completely new surface. No snow or rocks more. After a short climb we set foot on the Brunegg Gletsjer. The crampons will do good service here. We walk among Stierenberg by and Turtmanngletsjer.
After a long climb we reach the Col de Tracuit and the new eponymous hut (3256 m). (+ 850 m) / – 150 m)
It is our today another great day, now with a 4000’s on the menu.
A gently traverse brings us to a steady upward glacier us at the top of the Bishorn (4135 m) .
After the descent we can refuel in the hut before starting the descent to Zinal. A short transfer ensures that we get back to our starting point. (+ 900 / -2500 m)

Professional guide who carefully assessed our climbing and fitness abilities to get to the top unfortunately we came down a bit too fast and I fell and broke my big toe and was unable to attempt the Mont Blanc climb which was very disappointing because I felt ready to try. We felt challenged but relatively safe all of the time, the fall was an unfortunate mistake. Jan offered us additional training between the climbs to improve our chances on Mont Blanc which we really appreciated but were unable to take advantage of. We would climb with him again.
My first experience with alpinism but 100% worth it. Because of bad weather we couldn’t ascend the Mont Blanc but the backup program saved the trip. Learned a lot and seen mighty things. Overall, enjoyed a lot, a week we will never forget.
We had a marvellous week, it matched our expectations and we had souvenirs which will never fade away. The flexibility from our program because of the bad weather, was great, each time we had a discussion about what we could do and couldn’t. Reaching the top was always the goal. Also the fact I did this with my daughter gave it an extra dimension. We enjoyed every step because we were in good shape. Everybody insisted on this, but at the end, it turned out to be an advantage.
I had a very good time and it has been a fantastic week to fulfill my dream of Mont Blanc, with extra reward of the experience of climbing Gran Paradiso, both mountains are amazing and we are blessed by very good weather. And thanks to Jan and my guide, they are always there to encourage me during the hardest moment, without them I can\'t do this.
Extraordinary experience to stand on the top of Europe. Emotionality because of the beauty and natural ferocity going into your body creates definitely a unique fuddle. Afterwards I had regrets I could not stay longer on the top, especially because the weather was clear and mild. Grandiose!
Top trip !!! Stunning views from the top of Europe. Enjoyable guides with enough experience. Having some luck with the weather, you really have to do it. It’s enough to have a good physical condition and some perseverance. Fun to do but it’s suffering and pretty expensive.
We had all ingredients for a marvellous holiday. The good weather, together with the professional support of our guides, the sublime Alps and the Top of Mont-Blanc, made it an unforgettable experience.
Great. Gran Paradiso was a good preparation and off course a nice experience. The one day ice course was fun and very useful. Because of bad weather, I also would recommend this program, which existed of 3 chances the reach the summit. If we had chosen another program, we probably couldn’t reach summit. Now we did it in blue sky conditions! It’s the flexibility (3 summit chances 2 by 2) of the program which I liked the most. It’s an incredible experience and will always have a special place in my memories. It’s a super feeling to stand on the top of Europe. I really recommend the program (Gran Paradiso + Mont Blanc); not relying on other people and having a maximum chance to get to the top. (With a good condition off course). I had to sacrifice a lot, but it’s worth it.
By following this program, we realised the grandeur of the mountains and the awe that we need to have for this environment. The practical tips our guide gave us where very helpful, also for our upcoming adventures.
