Highlights

In the heart of the Ecrins massif, the Dome des Ecrins, right below the Barre des Ecrins, seems to have been made just for ski touring.

Ascending the Dome des Ecrins ski touring is a beautiful adventure. Indeed, far from the villages and the lifts, we move in nature. We are in fact inside a National Park. Our reference and playground during these days will be the great Glacier Blanc.

From the refuge we can see how the Barre des Ecrins changes colour while the sun sets.

It’s a beautiful summit over 4000 m, with great slopes to enjoy skiing. And on the last day, we say goodbye with a very long descent!

Do you find this ski touring ascent trip in the French Alps tempting? Then I invite you to contact me so we can start planning!

Other ski touring ascents that I offer include Mont Blanc via the Goûter route, Gran Paradiso in Italy and Mt Damavand in Iran.

I was disappointed. I was slower than the rest of the group reaching Tete Rousse, and the guide discouraged me from going to Gouter. I had a slight ankle sprain the day before which slowed my ascent. I recovered 95% the day after. My complaint: when I decided to go for a second guided attempt, at a slower pace, I received no help in securing a guide, or a reservation at Gouter. The online reservation showed fully booked both for Rousse and Gouter. But I know that there were lots of empty bunks at Rousse, and I suspect the same at Gouter. I received sympathy, but only as a formality. Initially I had sought a single dedicated guide, but I was encouraged to join a group. I did not get a choice.I should have known better, I knew my pace would be a bit slower, but I counted on your support and understanding. I got neither. I was on my own with no help.
