Svaneti is located in North Georgia and it is a spectacular ski touring spot. The powerful mountain range of the Greater Caucasus surrounds the region with its high peaks, making Svanetia a real paradise for ski tourers.

I invite you to join me for a 7-day heli-assisted ski touring trip in this beautiful region of Georgia. Also, thanks to the influence of the Black Sea, Svanetia offers huge snowfalls, tree lines and a variety of alpine surfaces to overcome.

This trip is suitable for skiers of intermediate or higher level, able to ski in any snow conditions. Also, you need to be in good physical shape and have at least 15 days of ski-tour/backcountry skiing experience

As the access to the best ski spots is rather long and complex, I came up with an idea: taking you to the highest alpine falls by helicopter! It will be an unforgettable helicopter-assisted ski touring trip.

During these days, we will have the opportunity to ski around the best backcountry spots. Every day, you will have 3 helicopter drops in different locations.

Do you want to know why I love heli-assisted ski touring in Svanetia? First, much of the the time we would spend hiking up to the mountain top, we will just be skiing. This way we’ll have the opportunity to be at high terrain without spending much time and enjoy the best snow quality.

Morning snow runs are the best ones, and with the heli-drops we will be there before anyone. Also, at the end of the day we’ll ski down to the valley bottom, adding extra vertical meters.

And, of course, the views of the Caucasus Range during the flight are really stunning. Besides, Svanetia is an interesting cultural area full of museums, churches, monuments and delicious local food.

So, if this great tour in Svaneti sounds tempting, please contact me! Book your place and let’s start planning an incredible skiing adventure. And if the proposed date doesn’t suit you, custom dates are also available. You can also take a look at all the other exciting trips that I also offer.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival to Mestia

You can choose either Batumi or Kutaisi as a meeting point. Kutaisi airport is closer to Mestia than Batumi, but Batumi offers more flight frequencies. Another option is arriving to Tbilisi, but the ride to the hotel will take about 8 hours.
The village of Mestia will be our base. It’s located on the foot of Mount Ushba at 1.500 meters. Once in the hotel, you can rest and enjoy free time till next day.

  • Day 2 to 7: Heli-assisted ski touring

During these days we will ski around the best backcountry spots. You will have 3 helicopter drops (one per day) in different locations decided by me and my professional team. Please note the drops will depend on climate and snow conditions. If any of those heli-drops are not used I will refund 175 EUR per drop per person.
On the last day I will take you back to Kutaisi or Batumi, arriving there at noon. It will be a really exciting heli-assisted ski touring trip in Svanetia.
