You can choose either Batumi or Kutaisi as a meeting point. Kutaisi airport is closer to Mestia than Batumi, but Batumi offers more flight frequencies. Another option is arriving to Tbilisi, but the ride to the hotel will take about 8 hours.
The village of Mestia will be our base. It’s located on the foot of Mount Ushba at 1.500 meters. Once in the hotel, you can rest and enjoy free time till next day.
During these days we will ski around the best backcountry spots. You will have 3 days of helicopter drops (one per day) in different locations decided by me and my professional team. Please note the drops will depend on climate and snow conditions. If any of those heli-drops are not used I will refund 175 EUR per drop per person.
On the last day I will take you back to Kutaisi or Batumi, arriving there at noon. It will be a really exciting heli-assisted ski touring trip in Svanetia.
Accommodation in Mestia – hotel Svaneti, located in the centre of the village. Twin rooms, half board included. Single room accommodation available.
Skitouring on Avachinsky and Koryaksky volcanoes and in Paratunka valley.
Dates in 2020 winter season: late February - early March, by request for private groups (4 people) only.
I am originally from Kamchatka and I have devoted my time to exploring the mountains of the region from childhood. I've been guiding in Kamchatka since 1999 and run guiding projects, organised avalanche courses and worked for the Russian Mountain Guides Association (RMGA).
I am one of few Russians who participated in the Canadian Mountain & Ski Guide Program, and the first and only Ski Guide in Russia to be certified through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG Ski Guide).
My travel and guiding experience includes many great destinations, such as Kamchatka, Siberia, Caucasus, Japan, South America, Canada, India and Antarctica to name a few. Even though I am based in the Chamonix valley now, I spend several months each year in Kamchatka and Siberia ski touring and skiing and I believe them to be one of the best mountains in the world.
