Hike on the McDowell Sonoran Preserve’s Gateway Trail in Scottsdale, near Phoenix (Half-day)

We will take you into the vast expanses of the Sonoran Desert on this half-day hiking tour in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Located near the Phoenix Metro Area, Scottsdale is famous for its calm desert scenery and intriguing hiking trails. On this tour, we’ll explore the many trails in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Along the way, you’ll learn about the unique history, geology and ecosystem of the area. The 30,500-acre Sonoran Desert is home to a plethora of wildlife and lush cacti forests.

This hike is suitable for people of all fitness levels – we’ll find the perfect trail to suit the group.  We always select safe, less-traveled trails that showcase the beauty of our unique area. The peace of the desert and its stunning geography make for a truly unforgettable experience under the sun here in Scottsdale.

This half-day tour is held daily from Monday through Sunday. We’ll meet you at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve’s Gateway Trailhead, which is easy to reach from both Scottsdale and neighboring Phoenix. We offer departures at 8 AM, 11 AM and 2 PM, so you can choose the time that works best for you. The hike lasts approximately 2-3 hours.
