Description

I invite you on my mighty 15-day tour of Iceland, a country that has exploded in popularity in the past decade, and with good reason.

The geographical and geological variety is quite extraordinary, as the numerous volcanoes littered around offer lava flows and geysers, as well as hot springs and sulfur pots. You will be amazed at how all this sits naturally alongside towering glaciers and fjords, vast valleys, tranquil rivers and lakes, all in a stupendous assortment of evocative colours.

Iceland, located in the North Atlantic Ocean, is the most sparsely populated country in Europe, and has long been renowned as the land of fire and ice, and for its proud Viking history, which dates back to the late Ninth century.

After meeting in the capital city, Reykjavik, we then head straight to our first volcanic area, Krysuvik, where we will get to see fascinating mud bubbles and mountainous smoke.

From there we head to the Southern plains with its mesmerizing lava caves and waterfalls, and then encountering the Landmannalaugar massif, containing some of the prettiest walks on the tour.

The next few days are spent discovering all the delights the country has to offer, as we cross idyllic rivers beneath towering fjords, admire gorgeous lakes and be awe-struck by the volcanoes, all of these in a wild mix of colours such as green, black and orange.

Subsequent days include a viewing of Vatnajokull, Iceland’s largest icecap, visits to some arresting glaciers and icebergs, the splendid fjords of the East coast, dropping in to some historical and quaint fishing villages and of course many more days of hiking amongst volcanoes and mountains.

We finish the journey after 15 days back in Reykjavik, hopefully with this unique and special country forever having a place in your heart.

Iceland is a veritable natural wonderland that will leave a happy impression on you – book now to visit!

For thrill-seekers, I also offer an awesome ski touring trip in the fjords of Iceland, here!
