Iceland, 7 Day Guided Ski Touring

Edward, an IFMGA certified mountain guide, wants to lead you for 7 days on a ski touring adventure through the beautiful slopes of Iceland.

Duration7 days

Type of tripNot specified

This trip is about exploring an area that is not as common as most, an area that is not the Alps, nor any other famous mountain range. Instead, the focus of this trip will be ski touring in the north of Iceland. However, just because the area is not that well known does not mean it is not still incredible. The north of this island nation is a magnificent, wide open space that is ideal for great skiing. As a result, I doubt it will remain unknown for long.

As soon as you land in Iceland, I will pick you up, and we will make our way to Siglufjordur, where our hotel is located. The 4 star hotel is positioned very close to where the best skiing areas are located. And it will provide you with all the comfort you need after your day of skiing is over.

The Iceland scenery you will get to enjoy is unforgettable. There is an assortment of geysers and volcanoes, fjords and glaciers, mountain ridges and waterfalls. And with 7 days at you disposal, you will have every opportunity to see as much as possible.

I will be able to drive you wherever you would like to go. And there are even some lifts you can use in order to go up and enjoy some great descents. There is also the option to heliski as well if you would like. And if so, that only opens up more of the potential areas you can ski on. Furthermore, there is no acclimatization to worry about on this trip.

Iceland is definitely a great place to ski, and it won’t be long before the entire skiing community catches on. So if you already have ski touring experience and you want to beat the crowd, send us a request.

I also offer this 8 day ski touring adventure on the famous Haute route from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland as well.

About the guide

guide profile img

In 1987 I became a certified mountain guide after an intense four-year training program at the Technical University of Munich, thus becoming the first guide from the Netherlands to be IFMGA-certified and probably worldwide one of the first guides not originating from an alpine country. As a guide, I do everything from beginner courses in the Alps to worldwide climbing expeditions to the Seven Summits.

Based in Switzerland, just a few kilometers from the French town of Chamonix, I offer customized programs, tailor-made for each of my clients. As an alpinist and mountain guide, I’ve participated in many succesful expeditions, including Mt. Everest (north and south sides), Cho Oyu and Shisha Pangma (Tibet), Aconcagua (Argentina), Yerupaja South Face and Huascaran (Peru), Ojos del Salado (Chile), Mt Hunter and Denali (Alaska), Elbrus (Russia) Carstensz Pyramid (West Papoua) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). I’ve led two UIAA expeditions for talented young climbers: one in China and one in Pakistan. Both were very successful and led to the opening of some new (and sometimes difficult) routes. I’m always looking for new and challenging ski areas and, in recent years, have specialized in ski safaris and ski touring in the Alps, Morocco, Canada, Chile and Scandinavia. Adventure skiing is my passion since a long time and the challenge is to find the best snow and safe skiing and have fun with the group in a remote location. A father of 2, in my spare time, I like to go skiing, mountain biking and climbing with friends and family.
