Description

Come and join me in this great intermediate rock climbing course! It’s the perfect opportunity to put your skills in action in the outdoors. Besides, you will be able to choose between beautiful locations in Washington state or in Oregon.

I offer you a “gym to the crag” instructional 8 hours course. If you are an indoor sport climber, this course will give you the chance to transition to an outdoor climbing location. Also, the top-rope gym climber will have the chance to learn the necessary skills to lead climb in the gym.

Depending on the date you choose, the course will be held in either Washington state (Mount Erie, Tieton, The Exits or Frenchman Coulee) or Oregon (Smith Rock State Park or Broughton Bluff ).

After a short introduction, I will do a safety check on the group. I need to make sure everyone’s helmet and harness fits! Then, I will introduce some basic considerations. And along the day, you will receive a complete instruction to become a better climber!

During this course, I will give you lessons on strength rating on climbing gear. We will also learn about parts of climbing shoes, and discuss the pros and cons of different designs.

I will demonstrate the different ways to clip a quickdraw in a safe way.  Then, you will practice this technique. Later, you will have the opportunity to mock-lead and to practise while climbing. I will also explain everything about lead climbing belay techniques.

I will give you another lesson on the overhand and figure-eight knot series. Also, you will learn about the bowline and simple, two-bolt EARNEST anchor construction.

There’s so much to learn! We will also discuss the clove hitch, girth hitch, and basket hitch, as well as the auto-block, prusik and klemheist friction hitches. And, very important, we will have a lesson on properly cleaning an anchor and rappelling.

So dont’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. We’ll start planning for an amazing day outdoors! And once you’re ready to climb, you will be able to join me in my climbing weekend program at Smith Rock State Park.
