This Joshua Tree climbing course is a fantastic opportunity to improve your skills on the rock and enjoy a beautiful natural environment.
Joshua Tree National Park is a protected area of the United States, located in southeastern California. It is an arid ecosystem, which includes parts of two large deserts: Mojave Desert and Colorado Desert. It’s also the habitat of the iconic Joshua tree, a rare species that belongs to the family of the Yuccas and gives the name to the whole Park.
This National Park has rock formations dating back 100 million years ago. In addition, it offers many different climbing routes for each level of difficulty. Because of that, is considered one of the favorites rock climbing spots in California.
The course I propose is perfect for indoor gym climbers with wide experience. However, I also recommend it for sport climbers who want to learn and practice traditional climbing techniques.
For two days, you will combine working with equipment as well as spending time on the rock. Under my supervision, you will practice how to assemble and rig different anchor systems, and to improve your crack and face climbing techniques.
This Joshua Tree climbing course includes the following items:
- A lesson on equipment characteristics and specifications.
- A detailed explanation on how to use and place nuts and camming devices.
- Principals on top-rope anchoring. Methods of equalization with slings and cordellettes.
- Using extension ropes for rigging top-rope anchors.
If you want to improve your climbing skills and learn about traditional techniques, this Joshua Tree climbing course is just for you.
Please, feel free to contact me. I’ve been working as a rock instructor since 1983 and will be happy to take you to the best climbing spots of this National Park.
