I want to invite you to a unique and challenging 7-day heliskiing trip at the base of Mount Kebnekaise in Sweden, north of the Arctic Circle!

Springtime, at the end of April, is the best season of the year to enjoy a great heliskiing trip in the highest mountains of Sweden. Because not so far away from the Polar Circle, just 300 kilometres north, winter still remains! Long days and quietness will make this trip truly unforgettable.

In that remote location, our Polar Heliski Camp is situated at the Kebnekaise mountain lodge (690 m), at the base of Mount Kebnekaise (2108 m), the highest peak in Sweden.

This 7-day program has all the features experienced skiers look for their best adventures:

  • An amazing freeride skiing area of 3.000 square kilometers (also ideal for heliskiing)
  • Easily reachable area from Central Europe
  • The best logistics and organisation guaranteed
  • Warm and cozy accommodation close to the helipad
  • Private groups of no more than 4 people per guide; a maximum of 12 clients per week
  • Amazing runs and landscapes
  • Private helicopter

We will meet in Kiruna, the northernmost town in Sweden. A transfer will take us to Nikkaluokta. Then we’ll put our luggage and skiing equipment on the snowmobiles that will take us to Kebnekaise Fjällstation, our base fo the rest of the trip. It’s really in the middle of nowhere!

Our helicopter will be parked right in front of our lodge. That first evening, we will enjoy a nice candle light dinner, and go over the program for the rest of the week.

Next morning, the helicopter will take us straight to our first summit. During the next 6 days all you have to do is just enjoy incredible ski runs in this almost endless and vast terrain.

You can check the detailed itinerary at the bottom of this page. Please note you need advanced technique skills in all snow conditions in order to join this trip. Besides, you need to be in excellent physical shape as we may ski for up to 10,000 vertical meters per day.

Also, please be aware bad weather days can also be part of our trip. On average we find 2 – 3 days of snow fall within 7 days. You should know heliskiing highly depends on snow, weather and avalanche conditions, natural forces we cannot control. So, this trip may be the best skiing experience in your life, but it could also happen that we face bad weather and snow conditions, like in any other heliski trip in the world!

Flying with the helicopter is not guaranteed those days with heavy snowfall and poor visibility. Those days, we will use the snowmobile and go for a few runs on the surroundings.

Quality and safety is always my top priority. We are far away from rescue services, so we have developed our own rescue strategy. Usually we ski in 3 different teams, with 1 guide per 4 skiers. In case of an incident, we make sure we would have at least 3 professional guides there. Besides, we always carry extensive rescue and first aid material  with us, and satellite phones.

Our next departure date is on April 2018. Check the dates below this text!

So, are you joining me on this incredible skiing adventure in Northern Sweden? Send me a request, book your spot and we will start planning this amazing adventure right away.

You can as well check all the other exciting ski trips that I also guide in different countries.

Day 1

Arrival in Kiruna-Kebnekaise Fjällstation

On Tuesday, 24th of April, we will meet in Kiruna. With minibuses we will reach the end of the road at Nikkaluokta within 1 hour. Now it is time to load our luggage on snowmobiles and trailers.

A bumpy trial brings us in 45 minutes to our home for the next days, the Kebnekaise Fjällstation, quite in the middle of nowhere.

Our helicopter is parked right in front of the lodge. At the open fireplace we enjoy a nice candle light dinner, while we make you acquainted with the program of your week.

Day 2 to 6

Amazing ski days

Next morning our pilot Mats will start up the helicopter, just a few minutes later we will reach the first mountain top.

This is the moment where you can overview the large dimensions of our Heliski area for the first time.

What counts now is just skiing in this vast and almost endless terrain.

The next 6 days will be just yours to enjoy some great skiing in an area larger than 3000 square kilometers.

A lot of the runs lead over long glaciers and mostly by the time the sun sets lower in the late afternoon, we ski back to the lodge via the spectacular run of “Jokulbakken”. Back at the lodge, coffee and freshly made pastries are waiting for you, while the sauna is already pre heated.

Day 7

Night at Kiruna- End of program

After six amazing skiing days it is time for us to say good bye. By snowmobile we will head back to Nikkaluokta and then to Kiruna, where we will spend the last night in Hotel Kebne.

The next morning we fly back to our home destination.

More info

4 clients: 1 guide;
We can take a maximum of 12 clients per week. In this case, we usually ski in 3 teams, with the ratio 4 pax. plus 1 guide.

DRINKS can be bought at the Fjällstation, there is also a good selection of wine and beer.

Freeride skiing equipment (min. 95 mm under the binding) and safety equipment, consisting of shovel, probe and LVS device are compulsory. All skiers will also be equipped with an avalanche safety system backpack, the Scott Alpride. The safety equipment can be hired from us free of cost. It is recommended to wear a helmet.
You will receive a detailed packing list from us about 30 days before the journey. Every participant is responsible that his gear is in reliable and good condition. Renting skis on spot will not be possible, although we always carry one extra pair of skis with us in case of a loss of a ski.

We use a Bell Longranger. This helicopter has very good skills in altitudes of the middle range. A very strong engine will make sure that we will reach landings in just a few flight minutes. It offers enough seat: 4 clients plus 1 guide.

We run this trip together with our friend and very skilled helicopter pilot Mats Widgren. We know Mats for several years and he also flies with us in our other Heliski destinations and in Svanetia as well. Over the last seasons he has proven his extraordinary flying skills more than once. Mats is from Northern Sweden and knows the area inside out, as he is flying in the mountains around Kebnekaise regularly.

In our package we are able to guarantee 11 heli hours per week, that means if we fly less than 11 hours due to bad weather etc., the unused hours will be reimbursed with 160 Euro per hour each client. If you cannot use up all your flying time due to sickness or lack of condition, we are not able to reimburse you unfortunately.

Heliskiing in this region is reserved for the advanced freeride skiers and snowboarders. I reserve the right to not allow participants to ski if they hold up the group or show conditional weaknesses.
