Highlights

The world of ski touring is an amazing place. And on this 2 day introductory course, we would like to instruct you on the skills necessary to not only enter that world, but to excel in it. This course takes place in the beautiful Kootenay area of British Columbia, Canada.

Surrounded by the Columbia mountains, you will be astounded at the beauty of the Kootenay region. And throughout this course we will teach you how to ski tour in the area’s back country.

The entirety of the course will take place in the Kootenay area’s best ski touring locations. As a result, you will get to directly put what you have learned into practice.

A few examples of what will be covered during the course includes the following.

    • Trip preparation
    • Gear use
    • Touring skills
    • Hazard awareness

The ski touring areas we will visit during the course are all beautiful. And each one offers their own wonderful set of views and experiences. Those areas include the Whitewater backcountry, the Kootenay pass, Mount Brennan, London Ridge, Rossland and the Red Mountain area.

Since this is an introductory course, participants do not require any back country skiing experience. However, you should be able to resort ski at an intermediate or advanced level.

If you’ve ever had an interest in expanding your skiing expertise to include back country ski touring, then this 2 day course in the Kootenay area is for you. All you have to do to be a part of it is send us a request. You’ll be happy you did.

We also offer a full day avalanche rescue course in Nelson, BC as well. It is the perfect refresher course for experienced back country skiers.
