Join me on this levada hike through diverse landscapes and discover the stunning beauty of Madeira.
In case you’re not familiar, levadas are irrigation channels specific to Madeira and The Azores, another Portuguese archipelago. Not only do they supply water to southern parts of the island and generate hydroelectric power, they also make an enchanting network of walking paths.
On the Paul da Serra plateau we’ll encounter two levadas. We’ll follow one to the beautiful Cascata do Risco waterfall and the other to 25 Fontes, a gorgeous waterfall that gets its name because of its many streams of water.
Afterwards, we’ll return to the Rabaçal Shelter House, then head for the slopes of Calheta following the tunnel. All together, we’ll walk 13 kilometers over the course of the day, reaching a maximum altitude of 1290 meters.
On this hike, you’ll discover mesmerizing waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, unique wildlife and breathtaking scenery. It’s guaranteed to be a blast, so book now!
