I promise this 1+day adventure of mountain biking I will lead you on will be absolutely breathtaking and gorgeous, as we wind our way along the Queen Charlotte Track in the Marlborough Sounds, taking in and admiring the raw natural beauty of the South Island of New Zealand, including stunning and idyllic waterways, coves and beaches, lush green forest and vegetation and large rocky ridges with breath-taking views back out over the region.

The Marlborough Sounds are located in the North of the South Island of New Zealand, and are a pretty and alluring network of sea-drowned valleys formed by land subsidence and rising sea levels.

We begin our trip in the picture-perfect and quaint town of Picton, and this will also serve as our base to head to and from the trail.

There are a wide variety of trails and tracks to choose from, each with their own distinct characteristics and beauty. Some of the best include Camp Bay – Torea Saddle, Torea Saddle – Anakiwa, and Meretoto/Ship Cove – Camp Bay.

Along the way you will be able to take in and admire the absolutely magnificent landscape, scenery and terrain that is around every corner, from the beech forest that lines the exquisite bays, beaches and coves, to the challenging and rocky ridges that loom above, all the way to the lush and thick bushland forest that houses many local bird species.

Some of the trails can be quite challenging, with steep ascents and descents, as well as loose terrain, but it is never too much for experienced mountain bikers.

By the end you will have fallen in love with this brilliant part of the world, and also be satisfied at having explored and discovered it in such a fun way.
