IFMGA-certified mountain guide Ivan has a great and fun plan for you in Sierra Nevada: a 2-day ascent up to the summit of the Mulhacen by its North face.
Sierra Nevada
2 Days
Feb, Mar
The Mulhacen, with an altitude of 3,478.6 meters, is the highest peak of the Iberian peninsula and the second of Spain. This amazing mountain belongs to the Sierra Nevada National Park (Granada) and it’s part of the Penibetic mountain range.
Today I want to invite you to reach the summit of Mulhacen by its North face. It will be a great 2-day adventure ideal for those well-trained mountaineers. The ascent involves a basic-intermediate difficulty with an altitude change of 460 meters.
Then, I’d like to share with you a sample itinerary of this program. Any item can be adapted to your wishes and expectations.
We’ll depart from Elche to Granada at 7 AM until we are in Capileira. We’ll meet here, introduce ourselves and have something for lunch. After that we’ll move towards the Poqueira hut at 2,500m.
In the afternoon we’ll have some lessons about the use of crampons and piolet. Finally, we’ll have dinner and talk about the following summit day.
We’ll have breakfast at 4:30 in the morning and depart in direction to the summit of the Mulhacen by its North Face. Once we did it, lunch at the hut and return to Cebadilla. At about 17:30 we’ll arrive to the parking lot in order to go back home.
I can take with me only 2 people. That way I can focus on your safety and enjoyment. Remember to bring with you the following equipment:
30L backpack,
Crampons,
2 piolets
Helmet,
Harness,
2-3 carabiners,
2-3 flat straps,
Proper boots,
Sporting Clothing,

Goretex pants,
Jacket of goretex,
Warm clothing (feather)
1 change of dry clothes,
